  • Quiet site with views of the Lizard Peninsula, four miles from Helston
  • A 15-minute drive from Porthleven beach; 25 minutes from Marazion
  • Walk to pubs, restaurants takeaways & the Poldark Mine
Scenic? Sweetly so. Rural? Oh yes, indeed. Lizard View is four miles from Helston, a town dubbed as the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula (the site’s namesake, no less). This quiet and family-friendly site has views over the Lizard Peninsula and the Goonhilly Earth Station (the place that receives images beamed back from Moon landings and Mars rovers). The family farm, which is now only farmed for hay, dates back five generations – and three of those generations still live in the main farmhouse and bungalow. Pitches are surrounded by working farms and wildlife, so you’re sure to catch a glimpse of a cow, sheep, pig, horse, rabbit, mole, badger or deer (not to mention the variety of birds that flutter about). You certainly won’t be short of beach days here: one of the closest beaches is in Porthleven, 15 minutes’ drive away, and there are handfuls more within around half an hour’s drive of the site. Walks are in plentiful supply too; the site is surrounded by bridleways and there are plenty of short walks to local pubs, restaurants and takeaways within four miles of the site. When you don’t fancy putting your legs to work, catch the bus to the local town, Helston (it’s a 20-minute bus ride from a stop a few minutes’ walk away from reception), known for its floral dance and Hal-an-Tow traditions and a steam railway. The same bus stop has connections to other local towns, where there are national rail links. Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection is also half an hour’s walk away for those who fancy taking a mining tour around a former working mine with a café and shop. Golfers can try out the golf course five minutes’ drive away too. Facilities on site include a shower block with a modern, self-contained unisex shower, toilet and a hand-washing sink.

This campsite offers beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and attentive owners, who provide excellent local recommendations and personal touches. Facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, with good washing and shower rooms. Pitches are well-kept and offer privacy. Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything, it was amazing. The owners are so nice and they checked up on us everyday and gave great recommendations on where to go. The facilities were very good and clean. The campsite is small but well equipped and very peaceful with a great view.

Disliked One thing I would improve is making the shower head adjustable so that it can be adjusted to various heights

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had such a great little weekend away at the lizard veiw. We live 20/30 minutes away from LV so knew when we booked a site so close to home we was going to park up, pop up and literally stay relax on pitch for our duration (we usually would pitch and explore but we have seen and feel so previlidged to have visited most surrounding areas, if your reading this though come and visit this beautiful side of Cornwall) .... And may I say I chose a great site for my family!

The field was well maintained, not to "buggy" of an area, good washing facilities (x2), lovely clean fresh family shower room, beautiful views, perfect silence away from main roads and lovely friendly owners!

Overall a fantastic family run site that sounds like they have lots of exciting things coming up for their business in the future.

And a special thank you to your daughter. Our daughter absolutely loved your print out you have created for the little ones. This was such a great personal touch, it gave lots of entertainment for the weekend.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Very attractive site with lush grass, good ground not hard or too soft.
Plenty of privacy between pitches each with electric hookup.
Toilet/wash facilities are excellent very clean and no bad smells whatsoever, although I have had to queue a couple of times as there is only one toilet/washroom at the moment.
The guy who runs the site is very friendly and visits regularly to make sure everything is ok.
Good access from the main road.
This site has wonderful views looking south including a lot of stars visible at night with clear skies.

Disliked Have experienced very large gusts of wind every few days.

Local attractions

Kids in tow? Get them on the log flume, go-karts or space-themed rollercoaster at Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes’ drive). Beaches are bound to keep them sandcastle sculpting, bodyboarding and surfing too. Options include the surfing beach of Praa Sands (20 minutes), the three-mile stretch in Porthleven (15 minutes), sheltered Gunwalloe Church Cove (20 minutes) and family-friendly Portreath beach (20 minutes). In Marazion (25 minutes), the sandy beach looks over St Michael’s Mount. Falmouth (25 minutes) has a splendid mix of beaches, a harbour and a maritime museum. Penzance (35 minutes) is pretty great too, as a historic port town once frequented by pirates. Whether it’s artistic St Ives (half an hour), the National Trust’s Poldhu Cove (20 minutes), surf-mad Porthtowan beach (25 minutes) or Carbis Bay (25 minutes), your day by the coast should be a treat. For some urban action in between, check out Truro (half an hour), Camborne (15 minutes) and Redruth (15 minutes).
