General

  • Friendly family-run site near the Lizard Peninsula
  • Coverack village harbour and beach under a mile away
  • Sports field, games room, launderette and plenty of space for play

'In a brilliant spot' is how a gratified former guest has described the setting of Little Trevothan Caravan Park near Coverack... this peaceful and friendly family park is secludedly set, but within easy reach of heaps of Cornish attractions: the Lizard Peninsula, Kynance Cove, Flambards theme park, St Michael's Mount, Poldark Mine, the National Maritime Museum and the National Seal Sanctuary are a mere handful of top destinations easily reached from here, as well as fishing, surfing and swimming galore around the seas and sands of the south coast.

Little Trevothan is among 10 acres of well-maintained lawns, hedges and shrubs, close to the coves and beaches of the Lizard Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 20 minutes' walk from the pubs, shops and shores of Coverack fishing village for swimming and watersports.

The site has a family games room and a small shop (open during high season), and plenty of space in the sports field and playground for kids to run around.

Among the amenities are a washroom block with toilets and free hot showers, a launderette with washing machines and dryers, and a washing-up area.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Fantastic site, lovely quiet site in a lovely part of Cornwall. The owners Sue&Mark are lovely. There is a great games room suitable for all ages including adults. Really handy shop on site. Work in progress to toilet block which will be finished soon and looks amazing. Plans to do the second block at the end of this year.

From the manager...

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us and wish you had mentioned your grievances to us directly.

Our toilet block is old but cleaned regularly throughout the day - other guests have commented on its vintage style but also its cleanliness, and the touring pitch you stayed on was actually a huge 11m by 14m with a hard standing area for your campervan and a large grass area surrounding it. Actually, on the rainy night you spent with us you were the only campervan on the field.

Our new toilet block will be opening in mid-May, when we will close the older block until High Season. It will then be renovated from September onwards. All part of our improvement plan.

Very friendly, caravan clean and tidy, welcome packs which were very useful. The site itself was well kept.

    Disliked:

The walk to the pub, took a good half hour, no footpath so a bit dodgy coming home in the dark.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review of your stay with us recently. We are pleased you liked our site and your caravan too. Thank you for commenting on the welcome information - we have tried to give guests as much local info as we can relevant to their stay, and with that in mind, we will let visitors know before they arrive that a torch would definitely be handy for the walk back from Coverack at night time. We hope to see you again at Little Trevothan.

This is a superb campsite for families. The facilities are great for the money and the owners welcoming. We enjoyed our stay here and will be returning. The curfew is respected which is great for young families. Listen out for the owl in the field!

Having to put the showers on throughout trying to wash kids.. but not a massive issue.

From the manager...

Thank you for reviewing you stay with us. We are pleased to read your comments regarding the campsite and facilities, and are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We will be starting our shower/toilet block upgrade soon, and whilst the hot water in the showers will still be on a push button basis, we will be making each push last a little longer! We hope you will visit us again.

Very secluded site, nice and quiet. Friendly staff, nice little kids play area and games room. Well stocked little shop, but Sainsbury's only 10 mins down the road if you need major stuff. Coverack is only a mile down the road, best to walk as it's a steep tiny rd into the place. Good local beaches 10 mins drive away but most things no more than 20 miles away. No wi-fi tho, didn't bother us though.

    Disliked:

Showers need some serious updating, didn't bother us as we use our caravan shower but might put some people off.

From the manager...

Thank you for staying with us and for your review. We totally agree that the shower blocks are in need of updating, and this is the first thing we will be addressing during the winter. We will keep web pages updated with our progress!

Local attractions

The nearest Cornish waters are at Coverack, about a mile away, and you'll also want to have a day at gorgeous Kennack Sands, reachable in less than three miles. Spectacular Kynance Cove, a couple of miles north of Lizard Point, is part of the West Lizard Site of Special Scientific Interest and was a favoured spot of arty sorts like Wordsworth for its scenic peninsula setting.

Family days out nearby include the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and Flambards theme park, eight and nine miles away; Falmouth and its National Maritime Museum, and the Poldark Mine, to try some gold panning and to see how tin miners did it way back when. Paradise Park, an award-winning wildlife sanctuary with indoor play centre, is about 20 miles away at Hayle.

If you fancy a ramble or a hike, head inland to wander the banks of the Helford river before catching the ferry for a sup and a bite at the Ferry Boat Inn near Falmouth; more energetically, hike a local section of the South West Coast Path from Coverack to Helford or the Lizard, or tackle the 10 miles from Helford to Falmouth via the Helford river and Pendennis Castle.

The beaut scenery of tidal island St Michael’s Mount is 18 miles away; in the other direction, the Eden Project is about an hour's drive away near St Austell.
