  • Relaxed, roomy and unallocated pitches suitable for families and dogs
  • Near to the South West Coast Path, beaches and attractions
  • Campfires and groups welcome; enclosed dog exercise field on site
To list the excellent pursuits that can be sought out from Lamarth Farm Campsite would take some time: coastal walks, cycling trails, National Trust beaches or clifftops, Poldark locations, mining trails, castles and activities such as surfing, paddleboarding, fishing, horse riding, coasteering and golfing… That’s partly down to the fact that the family-run farm site’s patch of land is at the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula. It's a simple and uncomplicated place surrounded by Cornish countryside and run by Rachel, Luke and the boys. Take in the valley views across Mounts Bay while cradling a hot choc or a glass of wine by the campfire. The pitch sizes are unrestricted, so there’s plenty of space to unwind, well-behaved dogs included (kept on leads, please). There’s a designated enclosed dog exercise field, three dog-friendly beaches a short drive away and a great dog-friendly pub in Gunwalloe village, five minutes' drive away. Don’t worry on the food front either. Ice cream and pasties are easy to find locally, and there are shops in Helston, Mullion and Mawgan for essentials. Facilities are kept to just the basics with a clean and well-maintained male shower block and a female shower block with baby changing facilities. There are two partially covered sinks for washing up, a freezer for ice packs and sockets for charging battery packs. The large grass field also has a central recreational area for kids to run around, fly a kite or play games. Lamarth Farm is a working farm, so expect to see and hear lots of tractors (just don’t enter the yard area). There’s no livestock, but there are some chickens and ducks, so fresh eggs are available to purchase at the top of the lane daily. You may also see helicopters and gliders passing overhead from the nearby naval base.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Everything!! Lovely warm welcome. Lots of space and freedom to select your own pitch. Great dog exercise field. Clean, well managed and lots of nice little extras, charging points, freezer for ice blocks, eggs from the farm chickens, games to keep the little ones amused. Dark sky so gorgeous starry night. We would have stayed longer if we hadn't been on a road trip with a route.

Disliked: Nothing! Just be prepared that you may get some noise from RNAS Culdrose, didn't bother us at all.

Bell tent

Liked: Tipi/Bell tent on site saved me the hassel of erecting a tent for 1 night away with just myself as the adult. Basic interior was perfect. It was warm and dry for a good night's sleep. Bench and fire pit facilities were really useful. Really friendly and helpful owners onsite. Lots of small thoughtful touches made the stay even better; fairy lights near toilet facilities to light the way in the dark. Small shed provided charging points, tourist info leaflets, selection of toys and games for children. Fresh daily eggs for sale from the on site chickens. Washing up facilities with washing up liquid and sponges. All these were much appreciated and made use of. Clean toilet/ shower facilities with hot water. Nice spacious , quiet site ( other than expected noise from Culdrose which didn't bother me in the slightest). Great location for exploring many areas in Cornwall.

Disliked: Not a dislike, but just an added suggestion. Maybe a small selection of wood or fire / bbq packs for sale. There would be room in the shed for this and an honesty box.
