General

  • Holiday park in the dunes a mile from Gwithian beach
  • On-site grocery shop selling local beers and Cornish pasties
  • Well located for visiting St Ives and coastal attractions

A holiday park set among Cornish sand dunes – how splendid. Atlantic Coast Holiday Park is surrounded by dunes a mile from the family and surfing spot of Gwithian beach near Hayle, a couple of miles from the famed sight of Godrevy Lighthouse (do hike the South West Coast Path from here to there, it's mighty scenic). St Ives is five miles away and can be reached by bus in the summer months.

The site's shop sells groceries, fresh bread and croissants, along with local beer and Cornish pasties – if there's a tipple/vittle combo more perfect to take out among the sand dunes you might like to hear about it...

Atlantic Coast also has a café, a games room and free wifi. Amenities include a launderette, a washing-up area with small kitchen, and washrooms with toilets, showers and accessible facilities.

This site is a member of Coastdale Parks group.

Yes we were mad pitching up in November in a tent but this was definitely the place to go for us , we had the sand dunes behind us and almost the place to ourselves, it was peaceful, clean, tidy and we loved that the pitches were segregated. This was our first time camping and we will definitely be coming back to this site again. The facilities were perfect ! The showers were great ! Also the people working on site/ owners were very alternative making sure that we were ok and that we were enjoying our stay.
Definitely will be coming back !

    Disliked:

Wouldn't mind if the Wi-Fi reached the tent but this wasn't necessary :)

The proximity to the dunes was lovely as you could have a nice long walk over them. If we had our children with us we would still drive to the beach though. The man who greeted us at reception was very friendly and welcoming. He couldnt havr been more helpful, this made us feel very positive about our stay. The pitches were well sized for up to a reasonably large tent. The site was peaceful and not large. Good for a quiet break. Communal areas were kept well and suitably clean. We would definitley stay here again.

    Disliked:

The grass pitches are very sandy soil, which is to be expected really because of the proximity to the dunes. This is not really a problem but would advise fellow campers to bring specialist pegs or make sure you have enough to double peg to make your tent more secure.

The nearby sand dune, lots of memories. Sadly lost due to recent experience.

    Disliked:

We have been frequent visitors to the site, in fact our family has through the generations
We have never had cause for complaint, until our two week stay in July 2017- extremely late arrivals, very noisy from 22:30 to gone 00:30hrs. Along with several other complaints.
We got absolutely nowhere with the local manager in fact everything was turned against us! when we took it higher. We felt like there was no compassion nor were we treated with dignity and respect.
We asked for the previous manager and was told that she had left, which is a great shame as she was a friendly accommodating manager, who we felt would have dealt with our concerns at ground level. Clearly the site is floundering without her.
This holiday was nowhere near the ones we have come to expect and indeed enjoyed in June and earlier in the year as well as many other previous years.
Suffice to say we will not be returning or recommending

    Disliked:

The mains water was making people ill, including my family and other tourers, nothing was done after several complaints, showers weren't great and needed a code to enter them ( no good for people with disabilities) stock in shop very poor, laundromat was out of order most of the time, facilities were definitely not as good as shown on their website!! It states it's four star but personally I would only rate it a two!! Staff not helpful either

Local attractions

Some spectacular coastal walks are nearby, including the two-mile hike to Godrevy Lighthouse or the six miles from Hayle to St Ives, following part of the ancient St Michael’s Way pilgrim route to Marazion on the way to the Cathedral of St James in Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain.

Golf and horse riding are both available within four miles, and sea kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering from St Ives within five. Take a day in St Ives town too, for its famed Tates St Ives gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum, before an evening in one of the restaurants to try the freshly-landed local fish.

For family days, Paradise Park, the award-winning wildlife sanctuary with over 650 tropical animals and birds, a farm and an indoor play centre, is about four miles away at Hayle. Within 15 miles is the Flambards Experience near Helston; head back south the next day for a look around Falmouth and a boat trip along the Fal.

Another tiptop option is St Michael's Mount, the rocky tidal island just off the coast from Marazion: take a boat over or wander across to the isle at low tide.

  • Tate St Ives (4.1 miles)
  • Cornwall Industrial Discovery Centre (5.6 miles)
