  • Peaceful meadow site at the base of a biodiverse 50-acre farm
  • A 20-minute drive from Godrevy, Porthleven and St Michael's Mount
  • Woodland trails, brook and firepit; pub, bakery and shop nearby
Make your way to the peaceful Trefewha Farm at the base of an increasingly biodiverse 50-acre farm. It consists of a meadow, fondly named ‘Mushroom Meadow’, which is surrounded by the ‘Enchanted Woodland’, so-called due to its gorgeous brook, trails and extra firepit. If that isn’t tempting enough, the farm is also a 20-minute drive from surfing beaches such as Godrevy, Porthleven beach and Porthtowan beach. St Michael’s Mount, an island-based fortress accessible only by a tidal causeway, is also 20 minutes’ drive away. With its woodland trails, wild borders and a stream at the foot of the site, this is a peaceful place where you’re free to go for refreshing dips in the brook in the woods or unwind between the trees. To find your way to the meadow from the entrance to the farm, just follow the signs along a five-minute drive through the farm, which has sublime views over the countryside. Stargaze at night and explore by the day… the closest town is Camborne (five minutes’ drive), which has all the big shops you might need for supplies. The Great Flat Lode’s granite trails are just a little further out. Within a 25-minute drive of the site, St Ives’ surfing beaches and famed art gallery or the historic port town of Penzance could also make it onto your itinerary. If you’d like to shop local, the site’s local village has a shop that sells local produce, a bakery selling tasty Cornish pasties, a fish and chips shop and a pub where you can get your mitts on local ales and delicious Cornish grub. That’s all just 10 minutes’ walk away, so if you’re a little full after your visit, it’s an easy stroll back to your peaceful base.

Mushroom Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Everything about this site. It’s down a long drive that leads you to a beautiful wild field. It’s basic, it’s a field with set pitches, beautifully separated by the long grasses. There is a communal fire pit which is a lovely addition, you can be sociable if you wish. The toilets (earth loos) are immaculately clean and the shower is a unique looking, stone floored cabin with great pressure and hot water. Great location for beaches, supermarkets etc Clare & Rob are so welcoming. We loved our week and will definitely return.

Disliked: Nothing

Mushroom Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely & quiet, small site with good size mown plots, just what we were looking for. Toilets; some of the best composting toilets we've been to but site is very small so not a lot of use. Shower; Didn't try the shower as only very short stay. Log fire pit; didn't use as very short stay. Position; great for beaches, pubs, restaurants & farm shop etc 0-15 mins away. Owner sent a txt message before we arrived, with contact details, very useful.

Disliked: Track to camping field long & narrow in parts but we were ok as in a campervan Surprised at lack of wildlife, as lovely & quiet & relatively remote & no road noise.

From the manager: Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to write your review! Really appreciate the feedback. Will endeavour to explain about the access track in the description. Sorry about the lack of wildlife! We have put the farm under Countryside Stewardship in order to enhance and increase biodiversity this year, so once the wildflower meadows have been introduced (along with a range of other measures) we should see even more wildlife! Although the bigger animals are usually hard to spot at the best of times!! Hope to welcome you back for a longer stay soon!! All the best, Clare

Mushroom Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Quite, peaceful

Disliked: Long grass on pitches Very long dirt track to site No where to put rubbish

From the manager: Hi there, Thanks for your review. Sorry you weren't a fan of our wild campsite! Most people that choose us adore it as can be seen from our many top air b and b and Google reviews, however I absolutely agree it's not for everyone, which is what makes us so special. If you had told me, I could have picked up your rubbish for you. However, ultimately, YOU are responsible for your own waste in the countryside. I will include the length of the track more clearly in the description but we are quite literally OFF THE BEATEN TRACK ! We pride ourselves on being different to the many over crowded campsites. Not many of them have 50 acres of rolling farmland and their own private woodland walks and fortunately most people that visit us appreciate these things! But I shall endeavour to make our description clearer in order to manage expectations of future guests! Thanks again, Clare @ Trefewha Farm

Mushroom Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The shower was a revelation. Super clean toilets. And the communal fire pit was fun and made us connect with others. Communication was courteous and friendly and timely.

Disliked: The road to the pitches has a high grass verge in the centre - not great for low suspension. When we got there, only a limited number of pitches was mowed and because others had spread out, we had to pitch up quite close to them. It would have helped to have a bit more guidance on where to pitch.

From the manager: Hi there! Thanks for your informative and helpful review! I love that you loved our shower! It's literally built out of recycled materials from our farm! I can't do much about the access track at the moment and agree its not good for lower vehicles. I make a point (after what you said about guidance on pitching up) of sending texts to everyone before they arrive now - about where to pitch up - so thanks for that! And I am in two minds about mowing the pitches any more than we have - it's best for wildlife to have a variety of sward (grass) heights - apparently some wild sites have grass that is twice as long as ours! We basically cut them if they need it, as and when we see fit. Thanks again and would love to welcome you back soon. Clare
