What customers say
This is a well-located, back-to-basics campsite described as quiet, secure, and convenient to the local town. Reviewers enjoyed the simplicity, birdlife, and opportunities for barbecues. Some encountered issues with shower temperature control and a lack of hot hand wash facilities. While most guests found the site clean and friendly, one noted inconsiderate dog owners and litter. Managers are addressing the shower issues and plan to replace current toilets with flushing ones and sinks. Discussions are also underway to create a dog-only area.

Lovely peaceful campsite in a great location, and family-friendly
Bell tent
Liked We had a lovely stay at Geevor bell tent as an adult and child. The tent itself was lovely, clean, comfortable and really cosy, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
We needed to bring our own cooking equipment, which was absolutely no issue for us. Normally a fire pit is provided, but understandably, due to the weather conditions and national fire alerts during our stay, we weren’t able to have a fire.
The location of the site is fantastic. It’s around 5 minutes from a supermarket and about 5 minutes from Portreath Beach, but despite being so close to everything, the site itself felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. It was incredibly peaceful, and when we stayed there were no more than four other families on site. There was plenty of space for the children to run around and play without disturbing anyone else.
There was table tennis available, as well as a large container full of games, which was a lovely touch and kept us entertained.
The showers were lovely and hot and were always clean. My only suggestion would be to have some sort of shelter over the hooks where you leave your towels, as these are outside the shower cubicles and aren’t protected from the rain. When the weather is dry, it isn’t an issue at all and it’s actually lovely being outside.
The toilets are compost toilets. This wasn’t an issue for me at all, although my child wasn’t particularly keen on them! 😂 They were always clean, and toilet roll was provided. There was also hand soap and an outside tap for washing your hands, as well as a washing-up area for cleaning dishes.
The site is quite basic, but for us that was exactly what we wanted. It was peaceful, relaxed and had everything we needed. We were also lucky enough to enjoy some amazing sunsets in the evenings, which really made the stay special. 🌅
There is a locked gate to access the site, and we were sent the gate code before arrival along with the What3Words location, which made finding and accessing the site really easy.
The owners came up daily to clean the facilities and were lovely and friendly. They also gave us some great tips and recommendations for the local area. Before arriving, I messaged them with a few questions and they responded really quickly, which was really reassuring.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend. It’s a beautiful, peaceful little site in a brilliant location, and we would absolutely return again! ❤️🏕️
Disliked There was nothing to dislike.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry that some aspects of your stay didn’t meet expectations, but are also glad to hear that it was not all bad and you enjoyed your stay, once again thank you for a good review.
We completely agree regarding the dog mess and dogs running around. Dogs should remain with their owners and owners are expected to clean up after them. Unfortunately, we occasionally have guests who don’t show the site or other campers the consideration we would hope for, and we’re sorry this affected your stay. We are now in talks of creating a dog only area to help make the site enjoyable for all.
We would just like to clarify that we are at the campsite every day cleaning the showers and toilets and completing changeovers of our 4 bell tents and converted van. I did actually introduce myself to you while I was cleaning the toilets, at the time you were driving over to use the facilities. I mistakenly thought you were looking lost and come over. I appreciate you may not have realised I was one of the owners but my partner and I are the only staff who own, run and maintain it.
As check-out is 10am, we usually carry out the main toilet and shower clean from around 10:30am, when the facilities are quieter. This allows us to clean thoroughly and change the compost toilet containers discreetly without inconveniencing guests.
We do understand your comments about the hand-washing facilities, and this is something we’re already improving. At the end of this season, the current toilets are being replaced with proper flushing toilets and hand-washing sinks. We agree, it would be much better for guest and staff maintenance.
Hand sanitiser and toilet roll are provided, but unfortunately these are regularly taken, along with other items such as our solar lights this year, which is frustrating for a small independent campsite and becomes costly.
Thankfully, most of our campers are lovely, considerate guests who respect the site and each other, yourselves included. We appreciate your honest feedback and will aim to address these as we totally agree.

All round good trip for us.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Good location. It's back to basics and that's what we like. Is was nice a chilled and lots of birds around which was nice to watch. Good connections to local area with town literally 5 mins by car. Nice to have showers!
Disliked The showers were a bit weird. One would be boiling hot and could not be changed to cold (The tempreture changer on the tap did nothing) and one was cold with no heat (although this started working on day two)

From the manager: Hi thank you for the review. So sorry about the showers, they are thermostatic and quick movements of the temperature gauge from one to another can cause it to be really confused.
We try to set these to a perfect middle temperature but this can be easily undone with one extreme or the other. The shower only likes slow slight turns at a time.
We are more than happy to come out and reset this.
So glad you enjoyed your stay despite the extremely warm shower.
