Rosewarne Campsite

The site was lovely and quiet, clean and provided not only eco-friendly toilets but also a washing up area for after eating! Both Zarren and Zoe were lovely and incredibly welcoming and friendly and were there for anything we needed! Couldn't have asked for nicer hosts.

A lovely back to basic campsite 🏕
We had a lovely night stay, Zarran went above and beyond to make out stay as lovely as it could be! Although they had compost toilets they was kept lovely and clean !
What more could you want beautiful country side views, sunshine and a fire pit (rented from the site) for a perfect stay🔥! They even have serval ping pong table for free 🏓!

Very friendly, helpful, accessible, contactable and responsive hosts. Basic facilities but early days and sound to be expanding... Great location for Portreath beach and supermarket nearby.

Fantastic and helpful staff, plenty of space for kids to play as well as footballs and ping pong tables, toilets were well kept and washing area for pots etc. Fire pits and wood were also available. I loved that everything was recycled/upcycled. Location was in the middle of everything so didn't take long to get around cornwall. Again, cannot praise the site owners and staff enough, they were amazing.

The rain?

The girls (Zoe and Allie) were what really made it for me. They made me and my son feel so welcome on what was our first camping trip. From the greeting at the gate from Zoe, I felt at ease. They provided us with a fire pit and wood for our stay for a small fee, which was brilliant. We lit it every evening and had marshmallows. Before I came, I was concerned about the toilets as I had never used a composting toilet before, with using sawdust, but it was brilliant and I'm totally converted. They were well lit, didn't smell at all and was clean. I loved the information about the toilets on the wall too. The trip was great and I will definitely be going back. If you are looking for a back to basics escape, in a place with great walks around and not far from the sea, and with lovely friendly hosts, then this is it.

GREAT ,campsite brilliant owners very welcoming came over had food drink and music 🎶 by camp fire 🔥 very helpful. Its what it says on tin very clean compost toilets can’t say nothing bad ,other campers very friendly made some nice friends. Proper camping ⛺️ just what me and wife needed. Will go back .

Basic setup

- polite owners (as far as I could tell, because I made an effort to agree with whatever was asked of me)

- the loos, considering they had no water, were actually not foul smelling and clean. Again, I don’t know how this would play out if the campsite had more than 5 people staying (as was the case with us).

1) I received a strong impression that the owners were taking every opportunity to charge customers and squeeze for money. Why? First, the firewood costs £10 which is higher than any other campsite I’ve been to. I know it’s not a lot and we didn’t use it, but this is just to make an illustrative point. Second, the campsite was entirely empty except for another tent. So there was this virtually entirely empty mass of land (roughly 75m x 50m) despite which the owners insisted I pay an additional £20 to erect an additional tent at 11pm which was taken down at 8am on the same allocated land pitch. We weren’t using anymore land than we were designated for our first 2m x 1m tent.

Granted, it’s a business, but that’s not a nice feeling to have considering the other dislikes listed below:

2) the campsite has depressing views. There’s technically only one view, and this looks over another dingy motor home in the middle of some uphill sloping fields.

3) there is no water - at all. I think this was expected (given the description) but still a dislike.

4) campsite is hard to find - there was no warning prior to our arrival about this / communication about this from the owner. My mother (we arrived in separate vehicles) searched for an hour before she found it, because the postcode leads to a school / college.

5) the neighbouring land is under construction, and the road is also right next to the site. So we woke up to the sound of an excavator (I don’t know how early it was), and the sound of cars. Not pleasant.

6) there is nothing at all within walking distance, especially as to get to the campsite you’d have to walk on a narrow road.

7) there was really no positive feeling the campsite left us with. The owners seemed to have made an effort and acquired some metallic ping pong tables (I don’t know if they charge for these either), but it felt a little bewildering for them to offer to rent us table tennis in the middle of what felt like a derelict excavation site with a single horse on the premises. I didn’t really get what sort of clientele they’re looking for.

Great open space run by super friendly staff who went above and beyond sourcing a fire pit and wood for a small fee! Will definitely return
