Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park: Views from the park

General

  • North Cornish site with views to Devon's Lundy Island
  • Five miles from Bude
  • Immaculate amenities including free hot showers

Coo, cop a look at these Cornish coast views… Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park is, not surprisingly, on the Cornish coast (the north side), but from this four-acre site you can also see across to Devon’s Lundy Island and you're only about half an hour away from that county’s coast too (yes, the north side as well). Beaches? Less than five miles away at the handsome little town of Bude.

Small and friendly Cornish Coasts is one of the oldest established parks in the area, so the owners know what’s what for making guests tick and ensuring they return year after year. You might also reckon that site owners who say they take pride in the cleanliness of their toilets and showers will tick all the right boxes too, as will new and improved features on site: the amenities block has power that which provide lashings of free hot water all day.

The site added a café and a farm shop in 2017 which is open from 8am to 8pm daily. As well as local produce, it sells essentials, camping accessories and booze; there’s also an ice pack freezing service and Calor and camping gas for sale. Other (very clean) amenities include a launderette, baby changing facilities, covered dishwashing area and a chemical waste disposal point. Hairdryers are available too, so you can look your best in those Cornish Coast photos.

Please note that this site does not have direct access to the coast path or space for dog walking (although places like these can be reached within a few minutes' drive). It is next to a main road, so there may be some traffic noise, although this also makes it all the easier to discover Cornwall.

    Disliked:

Location of the serviced pitch at the bottom of the site, among the seasonal pitches.
Cold water only in the pot wash facility in the bottom area, chemical waste area at the top of the site only.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review and glad you like our cafe and shop. We are only a small site and find that the chemical waste area covers the needs of site and is a short minute's walk away from the bottom of the site, you can also find the dish washing area at the top of the site. The water at the bottom of the site is for drinking water only. We would also like to clarify that the seasonal pitches are at the top of the site only. Many thanks.

The whole place was just lovely. So well looked after and peaceful. We had everything we needed, the weather was really kind to us but if it hadn’t been so nice we had enough space to all relax and unwind. The shop is an absolute delight, so many really lovely things but also practical and useful items too. There was nothing we needed that they didn’t have. Also loved the local produce. The Cafe too was really good, we only had breakfast there but it was the best breakfast we had while on holiday, the portion sizes were just right and the options on the menu were spot on. In summary we loved this place and would definitely like to go back as soon as we can! Thank you 😊

    Disliked:

Not a dislike but there wasn’t room in the bathroom to hang all of our wet towels after showering. Some hooks would be really useful.

From the manager...

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. Thank you for your feedback regarding towel hooks, which we will review and see what can be done. We look forward to welcoming you again.

    Disliked:

The extremely small pitch. The smell from the cestpit the 2 very small toilets one with a boiler in was extremely hot. No ventilation for toilet to clear previous use. By the time you put your awning up there was a tiny patch of grass to use whilst looking at your car as that has to be parked in front of the van. No where for kids to play near van as was like a car park.

Directions

Travelling on the A39 towards Bude, the site is one mile from Wainhouse Corner in a layby on the left-hand side.

Travelling on the A39 from Bude (towards Boscastle), you will pass through Treskinnick Cross and the site is approximately half a mile along on the right-hand side.

Local attractions

You could spend your entire hol on the sands and in the sea if you were so inclined: the long bay and miles of sand of Widemouth Bay are three miles away from Cornish Coasts for surfing, rockpooling or stretching out on golden sand; Bude is five miles away, and Summerleaze, Sandymouth, Crackington Haven and Crooklets are within 10 to 15 minutes’ drive.

If you’re new to the surf, this area has a good handful of surf schools to show you the ropes; if you prefer to stay on land, the South West Coast Path runs alongside Poundstock, the village nearest to Cornish Coasts.

Going along the coast towards Newquay, the medieval fishing village of Boscastle, eight miles from Cornish Coasts, is a popular tourist spot, probably best known for its handsome harbour and National Trust visitor centre in its old ‘pilchard palace'. Also the stuff of legends, Tintagel and its King Arthur associations are three miles along the coast from Boscastle: climb up to Tintagel Castle high on the coast for tales of Arthur and some seriously stunning views across the water (you should be able to see Lundy Island from here too).

Going into Devon, take the kids to new heights at the Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford; the town is also where you can catch the ferry to lovely Lundy Island.

Must see

  • Tintagel Castle (11.0 miles)
  • Rock Beach (21.7 miles)
  • RHS Garden Rosemoor (22.2 miles)

National Trust

  • Tintagel Old Post Office (10.9 miles)
  • Lawrence House (11.5 miles)
