General

  • North Cornish site with views to Devon's Lundy Island
  • Five miles from Bude
  • Immaculate amenities including free hot showers

Coo, cop a look at these Cornish coast views… Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park is, not surprisingly, on the Cornish coast (the north side), but from this four-acre site you can also see across to Devon’s Lundy Island and you're only about half an hour away from that county’s coast too (yes, the north side as well). Beaches? Less than five miles away at the handsome little town of Bude.

Small and friendly Cornish Coasts is one of the oldest established parks in the area, so the owners know what’s what about making guests tick and ensuring they return year after year. You might also reckon that site owners who say they take pride in the cleanliness of their toilets and showers will tick all the right boxes too, as will new and improved features on site: the amenities block has power showers which provide lashings of free hot water all day.

The site added a café and a farm shop in 2017 which is open from 8am to 8pm daily. As well as local produce, it sells essentials, camping accessories and booze; there’s also an ice pack freezing service and Calor and camping gas for sale. Other (very clean) amenities include a launderette, baby changing facilities, covered dishwashing area and a chemical waste disposal point. Hairdryers are available too, so you can look your best in those Cornish Coast photos.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Facilities always clean and well thought. We particularly like the hot showers after a day in the beach and be able to wash and dry our clothes
Our pitch was nice, level, next to the play area which some people will consider noisy but for us was great since we could supervise the boys,
We also liked the distribution, pitches grouped in smaller clusters, ours wasn’t full but could only have 6-7 tents

    Disliked:

Nothing! It is a lovely place, very well kept in a great location. You can hear the cars from the street but actually, our electric coolbox was louder than the passing cars :)

... we would suggest to put a net under the trees that separate the play area and camping area to avoid the balls hitting cars and tents. It happens many times and it was a bit worry seeing the kids running around out tent tension lines and electric cable to recover their footballs

We loved the relaxed feel of the site. We were shown to our pitch and were pleased that the request we made had been considered. We were shown where the toilet block and washing up facilities were and left to our own devices. The children loved the play area, and often spent hours playing with other children.
The toilet facilities were always clean and although small (3female toilets and 2 showers plus a sink room and 2 male cubicles and 2 showers) we rarely had to wait. The water pressure was superb for a campsite and the showers were a lovely temperature.
The pitches were split into tiers across the site divided by hedges and relatively level although the ground was stony in places for pegs.
It is very easy to get to on the A39, clearly signposted and has a small car park while you speak to reception. Budge is only a 5-10minute drive away (and we would recommend The Plaice for fish and chips and La Bocca for pizza).
We did not have WiFi by found a decent signal on Vodafone across the site.
The views on a clear day are lovely out to sea.

    Disliked:

Some campers were less considerate than others after dark but the children were not disturbed so felt no need to mention this to the owners. We were looking forward to the pizza that had been raved about in other reviews but were disappointed to find that they had been changed and could not be had as takeaway.

    Toilet/shower block very clean.

Generous pitch size, with site well placed near the coast.

If you take dogs as we do it is important to have somewhere to walk the dog and there is no designated walk area on site.

Local attractions

You could spend your entire hol on the sands and in the sea if you were so inclined: the long bay and miles of sand of Widemouth Bay are three miles away from Cornish Coasts for surfing, rockpooling or stretching out on golden sand; Bude is five miles away, and Summerleaze, Sandymouth, Crackington Haven and Crooklets are within 10 to 15 minutes’ drive.

If you’re new to the surf, this area has a good handful of surf schools to show you the ropes; if you prefer to stay on land, the South West Coast Path runs alongside Poundstock, the village nearest to Cornish Coasts.

Going along the coast towards Newquay, the medieval fishing village of Boscastle eight miles from Cornish coasts is a popular tourist spot, probably best known for its handsome harbour and National Trust visitor centre in its old ‘pilchard palace'. Also the stuff of legends, Tintagel and its King Arthur associations are three miles along the coast from Boscastle: climb up to Tintagel Castle high on the coast for tales of Arthur and some seriously stunning views across the water (you should be able to see Lundy Island from here too).

Going into Devon, take the kids to new heights at the Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford; the town is also where you can catch the ferry to lovely Lundy Island.

Must see

  • Tintagel Castle (11.0 miles)
  • Rock Beach (21.7 miles)
  • RHS Garden Rosemoor (22.2 miles)

National Trust

  • Tintagel Old Post Office (10.9 miles)
  • Lawrence House (11.5 miles)
