General

  • North Cornish site with views to Devon's Lundy Island
  • Five miles from Bude
  • Immaculate amenities including free hot showers

Coo, cop a look at these Cornish coast views… Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park is, not surprisingly, on the Cornish coast (the north side), but from this four-acre site you can also see across to Devon’s Lundy Island and you’re only about half an hour away from that county’s coast too (yes, the north side as well). Beaches? Less than five miles away at the beaut town of Bude.

Small and friendly Cornish Coasts is one of the oldest established parks in the area, so the owners know what’s what about making campers tick and ensuring they return year after year. You might also reckon that site owners who say they take pride in the cleanliness of their toilets and showers will tick all the right boxes too, as will new and improved features on site: the amenities block has power showers which provide lashings of free hot water all day.

The site added a café and a farm shop in 2017 which is open from 8am to 8pm daily. As well as local produce, it sells
essentials, camping accessories and booze; there’s also an ice pack freezing service and Calor and camping gas for sale. Other (very clean) amenities include a launderette, baby changing facilities, covered dishwashing area and a chemical waste disposal point. Hairdryers are available too, so you can look your best in those Cornish Coast photos.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Lovely relaxing campsite, perfectly situated for visiting the surrounding area. No tiny winding lanes to manoeuvre.
Toilet and showers were immaculate. Loved the new café and farm shop. Breakfast was excellent with good quality produce and very reasonable prices, which we ate on the outside terrace. Perfect start to the day. We chatted to another couple and they had been recommended by their campsite to have breakfast here.
We could not believe that the café and shop was still open till 10pm.

excellent site for caravans and motorhomes, but a bit noisy in a tent. 21/06/2017

This is a well maintained site with really friendly staff/owners. The toilet block is really clean and has thoughtful extra touches. The playground looked really good for young children and the shop facilities are excellent. The on-site cafe really stood out though for excellent food quality, possibly the best pizza I've had outside of Italy, we will be using the cafe as an a39 pitstop from now on!

    Disliked:

Possibly an obvious niggle is the road noise, great weather and the end of the world's greatest road race set the stage for motorbikes to be out in force and that stretch of road is the ideal spot to open up the throttle late into the night or first thing in the morning. Not much the owners can do about that . I think in a caravan or camper it would be screened out, but in a tent it was just a bit noisy for us .

We loved this site, with its welcoming smiles from the receptionist, we were taken to our pitch that was in a row of 4 well spaced caravans with hedges front and back so good privacy.
Nice relaxing site, not having to listen to other peoples music. dogs well controlled, and the shop was more of a deli with nice gifts.
We ate in one night, very tasty and good value. The lady's shower and toilet block was newly refurbished and sooooo clean.

Local attractions

Stick to north Cornwall’s coast, hop across the border to north Devon’s, or explore the rest of Cornwall and famous attractions like the Eden Project: either way, this part of the world has more than enough to see and do for all ages and tastes.

You could spend your entire hol on the sands and in the sea if you were so inclined: the long bay and miles of sand of Widemouth Bay are three miles away from Cornish Coasts and is the place to go for surfing, rockpooling or just stretching out on its golden sand.

Beautiful Bude is just five miles away for traditional seaside capers, and other sandy beaches including Summerleaze, Sandymouth, Crackington Haven and Crooklets are all within ten to 15 minutes’ drive. If you’re new to the surf, this area has a good handful of surf schools to show you the ropes; if you prefer to stay on land, the South West Coast Path runs alongside Poundstock, the village nearest Cornish Coasts.

Going along the coast towards Newquay, the medieval fishing village of Boscastle eight miles from Cornish coasts is a popular tourist spot – it’s probably best known for its handsome harbour and National Trust visitor centre in its old ‘pilchard palace’, but the Museum of Witchcraft should also be pointed out here too, highly recommended as one of the UK’s quirkiest. The TV series Doc Martin was filmed along this part of the coast and towards Port Isaac.

Also the stuff of legends, Tintagel and its King Arthur associations are three miles along the coast from Boscastle: the town is now one of the most visited tourist attractions in the UK, but it’s worth braving the crowds to climb up to Tintagel Castle high on the coast for tales of Arthur and some seriously stunning views across the water (you should be able to see Lundy Island from here too).

Further along the north Cornwall coast, you’ll come to the Camel Trail at Wadebridge within 20 miles (hire adults’ and kids’ bikes here), which runs along to Padstow. Newquay, home of surf and zoo, is about 37 miles from Cornish Coasts, and from here you can pootle along further to Portreath, St Ives and the Lizard Peninsula.

If you’d like to stick closer to base, attractions and activities abound near the campsite and Bude: a cinema within walking distance, six levels of play at Harlequinn’s Leisure, cooing at the inhabitants of the otter sanctuary at Tamar Lakes, walking along the coast, o’er moor or through forest, or trying your luck landing those famed Cornish fish from sea or shore.

Going into Devon, take the kids to new heights at the Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford; the town is also where you can catch the ferry to lovely Lundy Island.

Must see

  • Tintagel Castle (11.0 miles)
  • Rock Beach (21.7 miles)
  • RHS Garden Rosemoor (22.2 miles)

  • Tintagel Old Post Office (10.9 miles)
  • Lawrence House (11.5 miles)
