  • Bell tent stays on a farm with a peaceful feel in rural surrounds
  • A 30-minute walk to Bude town with access to miles of sandy beaches
  • Pets allowed on site and barbecue facilities available for hire
Head on down to Cornwall for stays in a bell tent set up ahead of your arrival at Atlantic Canvas: breaks at this peaceful farm 30 minutes’ walk from Bude and its miles of sandy beaches are designed to be hassle-free. Surfable shores like Summerleaze and Crooklets are nearby, just past the town’s restaurants, shops and cafés, so you could be plunging into north Cornwall’s foamy waters within 10 minutes’ drive. If you reckon you’ll be wanting a quieter part of the coast, the National Trust-run Sandymouth is a little less busy as access is via a steep ravine. Retreat back to the park to rinse off sandy feet before resting in a spacious five-metre bell tent that sleeps up to five people. Barbecues are available to hire if you don't have space in the boot to bring your own. Car very much stuffed to the brim? No worries: parking's within eyeshot of the accommodation, so you can ditch your vehicle, unpack and spread out on the grassy grounds. Bring your own four-legged friend along to say hi to the animals once you’ve settled in – alpacas, sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks are at the farm and pets are welcome on site (but must be kept outside the bell tents). As you might have guessed from having a gander at the pics, the area around the park feels pretty rural. Yet it’s also within easy access of key amenities: toilets and showers are close to hand on site and pubs serving food are less than half an hour’s walk away.

Local attractions

If you’re staying longer and have time to explore the beaches past Bude, head to the long sandy stretch of Widemouth Bay (less than 10 minutes’ drive south) or have a family-friendly foray nearer the town at top rockpooling spot Northcott Mouth (just over 15 minutes). Up for concentrating on Bude’s urban attractions? Spend a morning ambling beside the canal and check out the heritage centre in Bude Castle then saunter along the South West Coast Path to Crackington Haven beach in the afternoon. Keen walkers can head further to Boscastle and Tintagel as well… Horse riding, cycling, ten-pin bowling, fishing, tennis and golf are all available in the region too: just ask the Atlantic Canvas team for top tips.

Bell tent (basic)

Liked: The site is super clean, friendly staff, well kept. Can’t believe some of the bad reviews on here, we can’t understand them after going. Please don’t let them put you off, we were sceptical because of them but for the price we though we’d try it… definitely we’re not disappointed at all. The bell tent was absolutely perfect, really clean, loads of space and so much easier than having the pitch a tent. We took a gazebo for shade as the weather was so hot, which was perfect. The staff put on a BBQ on Friday night with the produce from the farm, really enjoyed that and all the kids played while the adults sat and chatted.

From the manager: Hi Vanya Thanks for your lovely feedback. It was a pleasure to host you and your family and we're so glad you enjoyed yourself (and the BBQ!) Hopefully see you again sometime!

Absolutely loved our experience we are coming back again next year with…
