Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Small, cosy campsite, pitching right next to the lake. Lovely area on a farm with lots of places to walk and explore nearby. Toilet block had two loos and a sink. No hot water or shower, as expected, but this block was modern, very clean and well supplied with all the things you expect. Another sink outside for washing dishes etc. I visited with my 6-year old Son and felt safe with us being near the lake. Each pitch had a picnic bench too and a shared fresh water tap. We had a great time exploring the woods and surrounding fields - plenty of routes to discover once you are in the woodland. Stumbled across Deadwood Wild West reenactment site too which was the icing on the cake.

Disliked: Regular planes overhead from nearby Gatwick airport. These stop at a certain time of the night, then restart again around 6ish (I think) in the morning. Nothing the campsite can do, but just to be aware of if you are a very light sleeper. Just bring earplugs if so.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Amazing views! Great level ground to pitch on and the big lake is perfect for fishing! We managed to catch a fair few fish! Also there is a make shift cow boy village which we stumbled across and was such a good surprise! They have actors every other week! Unfortunately we didn't get to see this but we was lucky enough to have a tour from a man who was working and up keeping the place! ITS A MUST SEE!!

Liked: We loved the surroundings and access to the local woods. A 15minute walk to a pub and we did also enjoy the planes coming across. The pitches are a great size and the toilet block was always clean and tidy. Was a lovely experience for the kids.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The area is lovely and very green nice when just looking to get away from the city. I loved the ponds. Drinking water is available and the toilets were clean. Greeted by Sarah (?) who seemed lovely and welcoming.

Disliked: Its a bit close to a main road so throughout the night I could hear all the traffic. Was fine just took me a bit longer to settle down. Thought I had gotten lost at first as my gps stopped me at the NYE building.

Local attractions

Staying at Wattlehurst Farm you’ll be just outside the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are plenty of places around to get out for a walk – popular spots like Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Tillingbourne waterfall are all about 20 minutes’ drive away. If you like your views more landscaped, make a trip to the National Trust gardens at Nymans (also 20 minutes’ drive) or Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens (25 minutes). With Gatwick Airport not far off, this is a fine area for flight enthusiasts – and you can get up close to various planes at Gatwick Aviation Museum (20 minutes) and Wings Aviation Museum (25 minutes). Flying of a different kind is on display at Huxley’s Birds of Prey Centre and Gardens (15 minutes). For more involved day trips, you can get to the seaside at Brighton in about 50 minutes, or head to Holmwood station (10 minutes) for the hour-long train ride to London. Closer to home, outings might include Go Ape Crawley, Fishers Farm Park or a more grownup trip to Bolney Wine Estate (all 25 minutes away).
