A perfect first camping trip
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked This was my first ever camping trip. I absolutely loved it. Heath, Kat and their lovely daughter were the perfect hosts.
The campsite was spotless, as were the composting toilets and the hot water shower.
We booked the wood fired sauna, it was amazing. Spotlessly clean, very hot as you would expect and the fire was constantly topoed up with wood for us.
I attended the Wild Foraging sessuon, led by Heath. A very educational and insightful session.
I will definitely be back again next year.
Highly recommended!

Very special place!
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked All of it was really well put together, and I think there's something here for all types of campers. There's four fields, so if you want remote 'wild' feel camping, you can get that there. Then the community feel of the first field is unlike any sites I've been to; Heath an Kat were so welcoming, friendly and down to earth, and we're involved in everything going on around the central camp where they themselves pitch up in their campervan. Lovely woods and trails for walking surrounding the area. Facilities are pretty great too, had a lovely sauna with my 7 year old who has never previously been allowed in any, there's bits for the kids to do with a little wooded area round the central camp and rope ladders, hammock swing etc. It's my little boys new favourite camp site!
Disliked Composting toilets are a thing I am yet to get used to, but goes with the raw, back to nature feel of it all. Slightly bumpy and uneven pitches, but you can find flat spots.

From the manager: Hi Freddie,
Thanks for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed the the Sauna, I agree composting loos aren't for everyone, but they are so much better for the environment and water courses.
We do keep them clean.

Fine as a 1 nighter
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Nice location
Disliked Toilets - only 2 and very grim by the morning.
The (quieter) field we wanted wasn't appropriate as too over-grown.

From the manager: Thanks very much for your review, we do appreciate them all. they help us grow and help other customers understand about the site.
The location is stunning you are right, I do think that leaving the hay to grow is one of the things that makes it look so stunning. The hay is collected in the middle of our season most years, although the weather is critical some years it will be later and some earlier. we will continue to grow the hay, we love the biodiversity you can encourage in a well managed hay meadow.
We do agree we need extra toilets, and have since your stay added more, we now have 3 blocks with two toilets in them each so 6 in total. We do try very hard to keep them clean, visiting late at night and as soon as we wake up in the morning. we were slightly surprised by how many visitors we had this year, but we will be ready for next year.
Thanks again for the feedback,
Heath

Excellent site
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Love this place. A very warm welcome from Heath and Katya. Plenty of space to pitch and spread out. A sauna and friendly campfire to gather around in the evenings.
Love how wild and nature friendly it is. Ladybirds galore and Gary the giant grasshopper on my tent in the morning.
Disliked Tricky to find. Will use What 3 words next time.

We had such a lovely stay…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We had such a lovely stay here - the campsite was easily accessible by car, had plenty of space and a view across the fields, the couple running it were so friendly and you can buy wood and rent a campfire. We didn't use the sauna in the end because the weather was so warm but it looked great. Excited to come and stay again!
