Camping overlooking St Andrews Lakes
St andrews lakes, halling, kent.
Kayaks, paddleboards, pedalos and bell boats to rent
Kent's largest inflatable aqua park

  • Lakeside Kent motorhome pitches five minutes’ drive from Halling
  • Rochester 20 minutes’ drive, and Leeds Castle 25 minutes
  • Watersports hub in a former chalk quarry; café and takeaway on site
Looking for loads of family fun and sporty activities on hand during your break? You’ve struck gold with St Andrews Lakes, tucked away in the Kent countryside 45 minutes’ drive from central London and five minutes from the village of Halling. Here hardstanding motorhome pitches overlook a freshwater lake in a former quarry that’s been painstakingly transformed into a watersports hub (opening times vary depending upon the season and day of the week). There’s loads of choice here for activities – from open-water swimming to paddleboard and pedalo rental or dinghy sailing – and you can also sign up for a runaround on the lake's inflatable aqua park (closed between October and April). Then, when it’s time to rest up, you can retreat to the spa and wellness centre. There’s a beach too, if you’d prefer to find somewhere to snooze on the sand instead of playing around in the water all day. Please note that there's an extra charge for all activities, and advance booking is essential in peak season. Everything has been thought of to make your stay as easy as possible: there’s a watersports shop (rental is available too) on site, as well as an ‘inflation station’ to take the hard work out of pumping up your paddleboard. No need to worry about catering for your sports-mad kin either, as there’s a beach café serving drinks and homemade snacks, as well as a takeaway pizza service to keep you refuelled for your next sporting activity. And the pitches are pretty handy too: each has an electric hook-up as well as a picnic bench and chiminea for alfresco dining.

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Loads of exciting activities to do with a range of prices. Quiet, safe, friendly, professional.

Disliked The shower! It was either scalding hot or freezing cold, no in-between. And the water pressure was pretty poor.

Great location for the lake which was absolutely stunning, crystal clear water…

Lake View fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Great location for the lake which was absolutely stunning, crystal clear water and lovely to paddle board on. Fairly compact site and pitches but the pictures show that. Great to have a bench on each pitch. We will definitely be back again.

Disliked Shower wasn’t very good and noisy music playing neighbours till late despite the rules clearly saying “ This is a quiet site: no music is allowed.”

Handy site if your using the lake

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Small site next to lake.
Very quiet and peaceful at night.
Check in simple and girl lovely and friendly.

Disliked Sewage lorry pumping out toilet at 9 am on Monday morning right Infront of pitch.

Security staff were so miserable!

Kitchen is shared with staff from lake and was dirty and full of dirty dishes. I had to clear the sink then wipe down the work top to be able to wash our dishes.

clean, beautiful lake in a lovely setting. Good bathroom and kitchen…

Lake View fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked clean, beautiful lake in a lovely setting. Good bathroom and kitchen facilities and very quiet at night. They offer weekend pitch stand up byo paddle board pass at £20 per pitch which is good value compared with their normal byo rates. Staff friendly. Pitch cam with picnic table and firepit or chimnea.

Disliked You have to pay separately to sit on the beach and book in advance. We didn’t realise this and had two disappointed children, as all the beach slots were full. It’s a shame they don’t offer a weekend swim/sup/beach pass for those that overnight.

Very good value for money. Site and grounds well maintained.

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Each pitch is a good size with picnic table. It’s a small site so very quiet. Loads of activities if you want them and food if you don’t want to cook. Staff are wonderful - friendly and helpful and happy to help. Toilet block is small but kept very clean.

Disliked The shower itself could be better. And perhaps a second shower would be helpful.

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Great facilities. Lovely area. Friendly staff. Each pitch has drinking water, picnic table, electric hookup and firepit. Lovely clean shower and changing room. Kitchen facilities.

Disliked Lots of watersport activities available but quite pricey. Supposedly has free wifi but when I tried to connect it needed a password.

Local attractions

If you can drag everybody away from the lake, there’s lots of heritage stuff to see in this corner of Kent. Historic Rochester (20 minutes’ drive) has a stately Norman castle and a Gothic-era cathedral to explore, while neighbouring Chatham (half an hour) showcases centuries of naval history at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, where you can tour the World War II destroyer HMS Cavalier and the Cold War-era submarine HMS Ocelot. The spectacular moated Leeds Castle (25 minutes) has enough craft workshops, museums, events and sculpture trails to keep the family busy all day. However, should the siren call of culture start to wane with the kids, take them to Diggerland Kent (10 minutes) for some time moving earthworks and shifting soil around on JCBs. No need to panic if it rains either, as you can divert to the bowling lanes at Hollywood Bowl Rochester (10 minutes). If you’d care to wander further afield, London sights like Greenwich Palace, The Prime Meridian and the National Maritime Museum can be reached in less than an hour’s drive.
