The Firs Fishery and Campsite

Liked The Firs was exactly as advertised and described. We were pitched in the field adjacent to the lake, next to the stump lined fire pit area. The whole place is perfectly maintained, very clean and everything worked as it should. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive and although the property is also their home we felt free to walk about, enjoy the lakes and just ‘camp’ as if we were alone. The pictures speak for themselves, if, like me, you like to be close to water then a seat by the lake watching the active carp all day will be medicine for anyone’s soul. Highly recommend and will most definitely return when they reopen.

Disliked I should have made room in my car for a fishing rod !

Liked Our second stay at The Firs and just as lovely as the first. We already said so much in our previous review, but coming back really confirmed what a little gem this place is.

It’s peaceful, relaxed and surrounded by wildlife, and we really enjoyed being able to camp and fish together. We had some lovely catches this time too, including a couple of nice carp, as well as smaller fish which kept us entertained. We also loved spotting the wildlife around the site – even the resident squirrels kept us company!

Everything feels very laid-back and welcoming, which is exactly what we enjoy about staying here. We’ll definitely be returning again.

Liked We had a great weekend staying at the Firs, beautiful woodland surroundings, waking up to the sound of the birds, we had a lovely walk into the village for a drink in the king's head, and such warm and friendly hosts, thank you! we will definitely return in the future.

Liked Loved the peace and quiet , fellow campers really nice , we had a lovely pitch in the corner shaded and accommodated our larger motorhome , great walks with the dogs right on the doorstep, woods and fields etc , good fishing and a lovely pub 20 mins walk . Margaret and Stuart were great , lovely couple. We will try and get back ASAP before winter closure weather permitting.

Liked We had such a lovely stay and will 100% be returning! The owners were incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating from the moment we arrived. As the site is located on their property, we initially wondered whether we might feel a little awkward or as though we were intruding, but it was completely the opposite. We were made to feel genuinely welcome while still having plenty of privacy and space to relax and enjoy our stay. The site itself is beautifully kept, peaceful and exceptionally clean, in such a lovely setting. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into maintaining it. We also went fishing during our stay and absolutely loved it — catching this one was definitely a highlight of the trip! 🎣

Liked Beautiful location and so peaceful.
It is a small campsite but that wasnt an issue for us.
The lake with the ducks and the fish was lovely.
The site owners were friendly and welcoming.
Good size toilet area.
Drinking water available was a good touch.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, and also your comment. Toilet rolls are a real issue, not only for us but all campsites. Many are removed and used in peoples private camper vans and motorhomes.... perhaps i need to put trackers on them lol.

Liked We had such a relaxing stay at the firs fishery it was so quiet with lovely walks through the woods with our little furry friend. Our hosts Stuart and Margaret made us feel very welcome indeed we will be returning see you soon 😊
