What customers say

This is a well-regarded campsite with a level pitch adjacent to a very pleasant pub offering good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciated the spacious, unallocated field with plenty of room. Clean and well-maintained sanitary facilities are accessible via a code. The location is noted as ideal for those travelling to or from the Channel and offers a quiet, friendly experience. Minor inconvenience noted regarding WC access when the shower is in use.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Lovely quiet location with very friendly and helpful staff, there was nothing not to like about this location. We had a meal in the pub which was also excellent. There was entertainment booked for the Saturday night which was another surprise bonus. Nice walks through the surrounding farm land and orchards were also very pleasant.

Disliked Electric hook ups would be a bonus but I can understand that this is a considerable cost to install

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Good pitch, good beer, lovely landlady and landlord. Very old pub with loads of character and ghosts (apparently, as we had a very peaceful night's sleep).
Highly recommended, we will stay again.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked We liked the relax quiet, park where you like, with a16th century pub on your doorstep. Very friendly landlord/ lady. We were there for their regular thursday bike event, with bbq and music it was amazing, they finished by 9.30.
Level grass field
There's a toilet, shower, for the use of campers, with a door code for security, clean. This was sufficient for us, as only 4 campers at the most when we were there.
Theres a stream that runs past the pub with brown trout in it.
Designated childrens play area.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Great site next to the pub. Good park for kids and stream was lovely too.

Owners were nice and friendly.

Disliked The toilet facilities were not adequate for the number of people staying at the site. Although they were lovely and clean, one toilet for at least 5 units, with at least 2 people per pitch isnt enough. It also doesn’t help that the shower is with the toilet. If you do happen to bring your own portable toilet, there is nowhere to dispose of the waste.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked This was a really lovely spot with a great local pub, a beautiful walk into Pluckley and wonderful surrounding countryside. The owner is very welcoming and accommodating.

Wi-Fi is available in the pub, signal is ok on the pitches.

Disliked There's only one shower/toilet so be prepared for a bit of a wait if there are several people camping on site, but this didn't bother us.

Local attractions

The Swan Inn is centrally set between Maidstone and Folkestone, half an hour’s drive from each if you fancy a wander around the shops of these cute Kent towns; for ambles in the countryside instead, the Stour Valley Walk takes you along the river through downland, woodland and orchards, and is accessible from Little Chart about a minute away on foot. The Greensand Way can also be joined from the village for longer strolls on the 108-mile ridge running from Haslemere in Surrey to Hamstreet in Kent, but if you’d rather have someone else do the legwork, cantering about on the horses is possible from the equestrian centre a minute’s drive down the road. For gentler trots on your own two feet, Ashford’s Victoria Park with its fountain and preserved gardens is 15 minutes’ drive; other market towns in the area include Hythe, 25 minutes, a coastal settlement on the outskirts of Romney Marsh with a beach, and you could also swing by the seaside at Whitstable (35 minutes) to sight the colourful shopfronts and have a go at catching crabs for supper.
