  • Relaxed adults-only Sevenoaks Weald campsite with stunning views
  • A 15-minute drive to Hever Castle and Penshurst Place
  • Barbecues, firepits and communal campfire; pub 15 minutes' walk
Fancy a front-row seat for a fine show taking in some cracking Kent countryside views? Pick a pitch at Morleys Farm, in an elevated Sevenoaks Weald spot, and you’ll be in prime position for vistas that stretch out for miles beyond the farm’s fledgling Christmas tree plantation. This family-run site is a lovely spot for a rural break – it’s got fishing and country walks on site, with public footpaths leading away from the land into the surrounds if you fancy a longer walk. The nearest village is a 15-minute stroll away, with a community store (selling bread, milk and other staples) and a pub that serves food. And it’s also in a handy position for wider explores if that’s on your agenda – the A21passes close by, making it easy to get out for days at the likes of Hever Castle, Knole and Penshurst Place, or to take trips to Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. Back on site, it’s a friendly setup with a nice little list of added extras for guests: there’s a smart bathroom block with hot showers, a couple of communal barbecues and a covered lodge with a charging point for your gadgets. Venture into the woods to find the campfire area – it's open to all guests who fancy socialising by the fireside, so just ask your hosts for some logs and get your blaze going.

Local attractions

Interested in filling (at least some of) your grownup break with garden visits? Start at the gorgeous Riverhill Himalayan Gardens (two minutes’ drive) with its walled garden, woodlands and modern sculptures, then move on to Reuthe’s - The Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks (15 minutes) to admire azaleas and rhododendrons or take a walk with an alpaca. There are some equally splendid historic buildings around here too – many of them with fine outdoor spaces of their own. Knole (10 minutes) is a good option for a day out, as are Penshurst Place, Chiddingstone Castle, Chartwell and Hever Castle & Gardens (all 15 minutes). And how about that most adult of outings: a drinking-based one? Perhaps learn to create your own gin at Greensand Ridge Distillery (10 minutes) or try a tour and tasting at The Mount Vineyard (20 minutes) which also has a super restaurant and shop.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great views, clean toilet and shower area. Shower was a great temperature. Pub nearby served lovely food. Hut with sockets for charging.

Disliked: The whole site is on a slope. You can't park next to your tent so you have to carry everything back and forth. There is a busy railway track two fields in front of the site which you can see and hear. The site is next to an area of dodgy looking caravans and some small industrial businesses. The walking paths from the site are full of brambles and thistles. Owners not on site which feels different to when they are around.

Liked: I Didn't Like this site! I LOVED this site. You show up and pitch up. The site is small and intimate. The showers are the perfect temperature and clean the handy electrical hut came in handy for charging your deviced. My partner and I had a great weekend here. We will definitely return.

Disliked: Not so much disliked, but a suggestion. Signposting the walks. We tried to go the walk through the woodlands following the map that was provided. It wasn't very clear.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: This site has extremely clean and fresh facilities, lots of hooks and chair in the very modern shower which was powerful and hot. The site is very small so on the second day we had the place to ourselves for quite some time. The views are fabulous, together with the frolicking horses it soon became an idyllic setting. Also heard the hooting of an owl in the night which was quite magical. It is a slight slope but if you are going to look at rolling hills it’s to be expected. Excellent value for money particularly as the fire pits and bbqs are complimentary, you pay for logs as you go, as well as kindling and firelighters if you wish, which was made super easy by the use of QR codes to make digital payments. Scott and Leanne are refreshingly relaxed and helpful and the only rule, that its adults only just made the mornings a relaxing awakening, rather than the usual toddler alarm clock on most sites. There is a kindergarten set behind the field but they were playing in the garden for short periods only and this is just week days, so didn’t interfere with my experience. This was my 4th camp in the UK this year and certainly the best.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The stunning view, the loose atmosphere. And you get to the London terminals in only an hour. Very nice and clean shower.

Disliked: The noise everywhere, all the time... the traffic of course (highway, planes, trains), but I guess that's what you get when you want to stay near London. But nearby babies crying (there's a nursery next door) and container lorries passing all the time... a lot of noise really. Owner didn't show.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful views. The free use of the fire pit was a nice touch. The other campers were all incredibly friendly and helpful. It is a very small campsite with only a few campers which meant it was quite peaceful in the evening. The wooded area offered some appreciated shade on very hot days.

Disliked: Directly next to the very small campsite is a daycare for children under the age of 5. This meant that during the day when we were trying to relax by our tent and enjoy the scenery, we were joined by the sounds of screaming children. We chose an adults only campsite to avoid this kind of noise. Maybe not a problem if you are going to be out of the campsite from 8am to 6pm but it was not what we wanted. The campsite is also next to an industrial site so we heard the sounds of trucks and building works going on quite regularly. Not the most relaxing stay I have been on. Didn’t see the hosts once during our stay. Their number is up if you need to contact them but it would have been nice for someone to check in on us during our stay. It is a shame because most of our issues come from things outside of the campsite itself but it definitely affected our overall enjoyment.
