Adventure time… sorted. At Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park, just outside Sandwich, you’ll be staying right next to the watersports centre – so getting to those outdoor activities could hardly be easier. As the name suggests, this place has a floating inflatable aqua park to try out, and a variety of wakeboarding activities including beginner lessons and sessions for more experienced wakeboarders. And that’s not all – you can also book ringo rides, open-water swims, SUP yoga sessions and sauna/cold plunge experiences. You’re going to need plenty of fuel to get you through all those activities, so it’s handy that the site is also home to a popular restaurant that serves up homemade meals for breakfast and lunch, alongside a good range of drinks. You can shelter indoors there or take your meals and drinks out onto the terrace to watch all the action on the lake. Come evening time, you’re welcome to light up a barbecue or firepit for a cosy evening on site, or you may like to stroll into Sandwich – it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the pubs and restaurants in the town centre. From Sandwich, you can also pick up train or bus connections for trips to nearby seaside resorts including Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs, or inland to Canterbury. With easy access from two A roads, this is a handy spot for all sorts of Kent days out, including beach days and zoo trips. All sorts of guests are welcome here, including families, couples, groups and those travelling with their dogs.

Liked Location was convenient for us with plenty to do and see.

Disliked My wife suffers with her hip and needed the disabled toilet and shower. We left the site she was in a lot of pain because the toilets were too low. There was no instructions about where to get the key and the reception was too far away to keep going to there anyway. Couldn't use the showers there was no heating on.

Unfortunately, there is no heating in the shower block at present, and is something that we are looking into adding

Liked Great site friendly staff , easy access from the main road , we parked the caravan on the gravel road and awning on the grass as it had been raining a lot recently, easy access to sandwich town centre with lots of pubs and restaurants nearby, the site has an on site cafe/ restaurant that serves excellent food and has a small bar as well, the site also has an aqua park that is amazing and great to watch if you don’t want to get wet. You can have bbq and fire pits which is a bonus, very new site so toilets and amenities very clean, also they have lodges to rent that look very nice for friends to stay if they don’t like camping

Disliked Showers could to with a bench or small stall to get dressed after as was a bit awkward

Liked Great site, clean, level pitches, electric & water right by the pitch. Immaculate shower/toilet block, fabulous 360 views of horses, the log cabins, the lakes. Ground maintenance outstanding, Great onsite bar & restaurant. Delicious food & welcoming staff. Just very modern & tidy and we felt at home staying here.

Disliked It’s such a pathetic dislike but I’ll mention it anyway! The shower head & me didn’t get on! The way it spays out is just a mist & I’ve never experienced that before! Not my favourite personally! If you’re not washing your hair that day, you need a shower cap!

Liked A great little camp site, we loved the inflatables ❤️ newly refurbed toilet block, great restaurant with fab views.

Liked Nice and open new campsite with onsite bar and eatery. Plus lots of water activities to enjoy. Friendly staff and delicious ice cream stall. Plus the site is perfectly situated for trips to the seaside including Margate. Ramsgate. Dover and days out in Canterbury

Being a new site and due to the lack of rainfall when the soil was laid and seeded, it is not established as we would of hoped. This is something that we are going to address over the winter maintenance programme, with the current grassed areas being top dressed and seeded. We will also be looking to boost the wifi connection on-site

Liked War sehr freundlicher Empfang, allerdings ist die Einfahrt zum Campingplatz etwas unübersichtlich gestaltet. Wir haben erst beim Aquapark an der Rezeption angefragt.
Platz ist geräumig und nicht eng. Sehr einfach. Einkaufen kann man im ca 1 km weit entfernten Dorf links von der Platzausfahrt. Sehr gutes Sortiment und gute Preise.
Als kurzer Übernachtungsplatz Sehr geeignet.
20 min. von Dover entfernt.

Disliked Bietet außer Aquapark nichts.

Are you into big cats? Or perhaps you prefer smaller (and less ferocious) animals, such as meerkats and red pandas? How do you feel about primates? Well, good news: at Wingham Wildlife Park (five minutes’ drive), you can see them all, plus colourful birds and creepy crawlies. There’s also a Dinosaur Park, with more than 20 prehistoric creatures. Ramsgate (15 minutes) has a sandy beach and the Royal Harbour, where vessels are often decorated with fairy lights, making for a pretty sight after dark. The Ramsgate Tunnels, carved underground in the 1930s, became an air-raid shelter during World War II, and today they run guided tours, plus events from vintage dances to festive markets. Besides a wide sandy beach with a tidal pool and a waterfront sauna, Margate (20 minutes) is home to Dreamland, an amusement park with vintage rides and events including big-name concerts. The rotating art exhibitions at Turner Contemporary are always worth a look.
