What customers say

This is a basic, quirky site with a unique WWII heritage, ideal for short stopovers due to its proximity to the Channel Tunnel and Dover ferries. Guests appreciate the historical interest and the ongoing restoration. Essential services like electricity and water are available. However, the site is described as a work in progress, lacking traditional facilities such as toilets and showers, and some visitors find it overpriced for the amenities offered. Access and the appearance of a building site are noted concerns.

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked It was so bad it was kind of cool. I can see the vision and potential for it to be something different and a fun stop over.

Disliked Not worth £50 for night with no toilet facilities/showers. The wind was blowing a hoolie and I thought we were going to get blown away. It is a building site just now and hard to find, drove past it.

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked A little odd.
Dangerous entrance as you have to wait for the sliding gate to open so stuck out in the road.
On arrival there was a van parked next to the water and electric so was unable to get past and park where we were supposed to

Disliked It's safe but way over priced

Recommend to friends Visit again

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Small site but was perfect for us after a long drive back up through France and the tunnel. Seeing the gun mounts and tank was really interesting before we left too.

Site is on a busy road so look out for it closely as you are approaching and use the code provided for entry. Turn left as you enter the site and you’ll find water and electric hook up.

Disliked Was a bit late receiving the entry code and directions of entry but apart from that all good.

Local attractions

With a gun battery on site for you to explore, and the Battle of Britain Memorial five minutes’ walk away, you may have had your fill of war history. But don’t forget that underneath the mighty medieval Dover Castle (10 minutes’ drive), you can wander through a warren of secret wartime tunnels, visit a subterranean hospital and book a Cold War-themed escape room challenge. If you’re hanging around in Kent for a while, there are wild animal encounters to be had at Port Lympne Safari Park (20 minutes), and silverback gorillas to watch out for at Howletts Wild Animal Park (half an hour). If you’d rather have a look around old houses, National Trust-owned Sissinghurst Castle Garden (50 minutes) is open for tours of the tower, library and parkland created by author Vita Sackville-West in the 1930s. Folkestone Old Town (10 minutes) is a pretty place to have a look around, with lots of indie art galleries and shops to browse, while The Stade promenade leads to a wide, sandy beach for a snooze in the sun or a quick dip in the sea. When you’re feeling peckish, head for the Harbour Arm for street-food stalls selling all sorts of yummy mezze and pizzas.
