Squirrel non-electric earth tent pitch (four person)

Liked This campsite is magical! An amazing place! So beautifully, carefully, stylishly set up. We felt incredibly relaxed. Everything is so beautifully done - the toilet/shower block (immaculate), the shop has to be the most stylish camp shop ever, the attention to detail is fantastic. Lots of books, toys, games for everyone to use. It's a wonderful, tranquil, calm, peaceful space. The pitches are so well set out, lots of privacy and space. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful. Wow! I wish I could be there right now. Will definitely return. Such a special place. Wonderful to see my teenage daughter relaxing. At the end of the trip, she thanked me for "such a wonderful experience.'

Disliked Absolutely everything was well-thought out and so considered - nothing to dislike at all!

Hedgehog non-electric grass and earth tent pitch (six person)

Liked We not only liked, but LOVED this site. Perfectly set up, spacious plots, space between the plots but yet a lovely friendly feel. A safe space to play and just be. Lots of little details thought of, making it very special. The owners are so friendly and have really put effort into making this such a gem. The communal spaces had plenty to entertain or laze about. The honesty shop was fabulous - the ice lollies were spot on for our kids. The facilities were SO clean and the showers were good. Fresh herbs to pick if you needed. So many lovely things and we will definitely be back. My boys are already asking when we’re going back! I even managed to get good enough 4G to do some work on our final day when I was supposed to be working but had stayed longer because we were having a lovely time.

Disliked Nothing!

Grasshopper non-electric earth tent pitch (large, seven person, woodland)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at The Grasshopper pitch last weekend ,it is away from busy roads but close enough to zoos ,beaches and some lovely pubs . We particularly liked The Haywain
Our woodland pitch was large and quiet on the outskirts of the woods- but close enough to the facilities .
As others have stated , it is very well maintained site with a lot of attention to detail.
Children are kept entertained with the games area ,the lovely chill out area with books and games and the honesty shop for any forgotten items . Washing up area even has freshly cut flowers in a vase !
We forgot to bring our scrabble and Simon even managed to source one for us ! We came back from a day out to find it sitting on our table which was a lovely surprise . We were able to then play it around the fire pit that evening with logs etc provided by the honesty shop .
Just one thing , which maybe already planned? -It would be nice to see each pitch with a name plaque so we can see what other pitches are available to choose for future stays .
We have already booked the same pitch again though already .

Disliked Nothing really - struggled being able to read the numbers on the gate padlock!

Squirrel non-electric earth tent pitch (four person)

Liked Very well organised and run site - all pitches are pre-allocated under lovely trees, completely different experiences to open field camping.
There’s a lovely woody and earthy smell, that makes you relax as soon as you step through the gate, leaving your car and your daily worries behind, in the site’s parking lot.
The hosts are attentive and welcoming
The toilet and shower facilities are comfortable and spotless
Honesty shop and communal area are such fantastic additions and very well managed

Nightingale non-electric earth tent pitch (eight person)

Liked What an amazing way to camp, this little gem in Folkstone is an absolute must for those wanting to get back to nature. Having you're own little woodland area where you are able to have a real campfire which is away from everyone else makes the experience feel extra special.
An on-site small honesty shop is extremely handy especially when you've forgotten the odd essential, the toilet and shower block is super clean and has everything that is needed, and the play area for all (not just for kids) is a lovely, fun space to enjoy quality time.
The staff are unbelievably helpful and we can't wait to come back next year.

Butterfly non-electric earth tent pitch (five person)

Liked This little place is amazing! We loved the warm welcome we got. The detailed personal touches to everything really make this place special.
Each campsite has its own private space and everything is kept so clean especially the bathroom areas. Iv never been to a camp sight where the bathrooms are kept so clean!
Because Wingham is not far we got to hear the lions 🥰 coming from Africa this was a real treat!
Making use of the play area, lounge area and board games were perfect for the kids and fun for the family.
We really loved the honesty shop, the trust the owners have and the opportunity to teach our children the value of being honest is priceless.

Thank you for such an amazing stay.

Local attractions

Plenty to do in these parts – so where to start first? Animal-mad families can see some of the endangered species in the breeding programme at Howletts Wildlife Park (15 minutes’ drive) – including elephants and gorillas – roaming in spacious enclosures. Energetic types can have a go on wake boards pulled on a line at Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park (five minutes), get out on the River Stour for boating adventures from Canoe Wild at Grove Ferry (10 minutes), or play golf on one of the three courses overlooking Sandwich Bay (20 minutes) before having a splash in the sea. Young kids might like to collect fossils and build dens at Betteshanger Park (15 minutes), while rides on the vintage rollercoasters at Dreamland Margate (25 minutes) will hopefully keep teens smiling. For less raucous ways of spending a day, tour the modern art at Margate’s Turner Contemporary (half an hour), or stand on the spot of a famous medieval murder at Canterbury’s famous landmark cathedral (25 minutes), visit the wonky bookshop at Sir John Boys House and admire the plantings in Westside Gardens along the Stour.
