The paddock

  • Dog-friendly farm stay in a scenic valley eight miles from Canterbury
  • In the Kent Downs, half an hour’s drive from Whitstable
  • Animals to meet; pub, shop and wine tasting within walking distance
Stunning sunsets? Oh, yes. The paddock at Courtlands Camping and Glamping looks over the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so the views are impressive all the time, whether it’s sunset, daylight or twilight. These dog-friendly farm stays have access to facilities like a converted horse lorry with two flushing toilets and a family-sized shower. There’s fresh water available at one end of the site. Plus, as a family farm, there are plenty of animals and wildlife for guests to meet. Get your introduction to the city of Canterbury in a jiffy too. The city is a 20-minute drive away or there’s a bus stop five minutes’ walk from the farm which takes under 15 minutes to reach the centre. Neighbouring the site is a golf course and there’s also views over a vineyard (wine tasting experiences can therefore be tracked down 15 minutes’ walk away). Courtlands Camping and Glamping is in the village of Barnham, so there are a fair few handy amenities within walking distance. It’s a 10-minute walk along the A360 to a petrol station and food shop. The village centre, which has a pub and restaurant, is a 20-minute walk or a five-minute drive away. Good country pubs and cafés are easily scoped out within 10 minutes’ drive of the farm.
