  • Luxurious glamping site in a Kent village 10 minutes from Canterbury
  • Howletts Wild Animal Park a 15-minute drive; Dover Castle 25 minutes
  • Private showers, kitchens and gardens; pub and shops 10 minutes’ walk
Tucked into Kent countryside in the lovely village of Littlebourne, Canterbury Lodges and Glamping has a real rural vibe about it and yet is only a ten-minute drive from the historic city of Canterbury. So you have the best of both worlds – town and country – staying here, plus the chance to make friends with cute pygmy goats and chirpy chicks. The three-acre glamping site is a quiet, rural setting, sheltered by trees so the luxurious accommodation units are well secluded from each other. All come with private bathrooms with showers, a camping kitchen with all essentials provided, and a spacious private garden area with firepits and a charcoal-fired barbecue. Feel free to bring your own firewood or buy it on site for a small charge per bag. Littlebourne village (10 minutes’ walk) has all sorts of handy amenities, including a local shop for replenishing supplies, a large village green and outdoor play area for the kids and a pub for the adults. If you want to ditch the car and still explore coastal towns such as Whitstable, Broadstairs and Sandwich, there is a bus stop close by.

Bell tent

Liked: We booked this for a quiet retreat and found it to be a very good location. We loved the fire pit as it kept the sept chills away in the evening looking at the stars. All facilities toilets and shower block a short walk we stayed in the bell tent and bed very comfy my wife is disabled and facilities were good. We loved the goats and chickens. we loved our time there and was sorry when it ended. Look forward to a return visit sometime.

Disliked: As wife was disabled one thing we really missed was a small low table to be able to put our essentials on. It only needed to be small folding table which could be stored under the bed for those people that don't need a small table. It would have helped my wife.

Bell tent

Liked: Location, near Canterbury for a cultural day out but rural enough to feel remote and enjoy the camping experience.

Shepherd's hut (hot tub, private bathroom amenities)

Liked: Myself and my husband both had such a lovely relaxing time staying in the Sheppard's hut. Its a very beautiful rural area and the site itself is lovely and small and the owners were very friendly and welcoming, fresh farm eggs were a bonus. The Sheppard's hut was lovely and clean and very cosy and of course the hot tub was amazing and we certainly made the most of it. The hut was sat next to a goats pen, which I absolutely loved waking up and going to give them a little scratch in the mornings. You get your own private shower room which is just a short distance from the hut. Overall myself and my husband had a lovely time and will definitely be staying here again

Disliked: absolutely nothing

Shepherd's hut (hot tub, private bathroom amenities)

Liked: Really clean and warm, hot tub was amazing, really easy check in and the goats were also very sweet to see each morning. Very quiet and peaceful area, really close to howletts zoo that we were able to visit, only a short walk away.

Bell tent

Liked: We first came to Canterbury Lodges in July and loved it so much we came back for an end of summer 3 night stay. We particularly love the bell tent as it gives you the camping experience without all the fuss! The kitchen area is well equipped, and the fire pit makes those darker evenings so cosy! The tent is spacious and very trustworthy as we experienced a heavy thunderstorm one of the nights which was quite spectacular. The owners are lovely and friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Nice clean toilets and shower always a bonus when camping! I also loved feeding the goats that like to be petted once you’ve given them a carrot or two. All in all a lovely, peaceful stay and we will see you again soon! Worth mentioning is the local pub called The Evenhill, we ate there 3 times over our two visits to the area and the food is excellent and staff very welcoming. We had the pleasure of steak night on the Tuesday which was very good value.

Disliked: Nothing

Bell tent

Liked: Lovely stay at the Canterbury Lodges and Glamping site. All the amenities that you could wish for whilst camping which was much appreciated. Like the fact that we had our own ablutions and our own fridge. There were some board games left which were good for the evening. The owner very kindly left us some eggs, the goats were friendly and so was the ginger tabby. We did pop to the local pub for some food unfortunately they were fully booked. Thank goodness for the chippy van by the village shop (great food btw) There was so much to do around the area, a great location to explore Kent - the garden of England.

Disliked: The only thing that I would say and this is not a dislike but more of a "wish we had one" was the hot tub, we felt quite envious of our neighbouring Shepherd Hut having one and we didn't, but in fairness, you wouldn't usually have one! Just hot tub envy on our part.
