  • Family holiday park set in 100 acres of Kent countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Margate's beach and attractions
  • Pool, clubhouse, restaurant and family bar
Kent countryside… but more essentially, Kent coast. Kids who clamour for maximum sandy days while on hol – and grownups who clamour for loads of options to keep small sorts fully busy – will be hugely chuffed at the setting of Birchington Vale Holiday Park, a few miles from the miles of golden sandy beaches of the north Kent coast. But back to the setting in a bit… For even the fussiest guest (of whatever size) should find something to keep them entertained at this well-equipped family park: there's an indoor pool with flume to splash around at; an adventure playground and an amusement arcade for adventurous and amusing hours; crazy golf; pottery classes; archery... and Loopy and pals as park mascots overseeing the lot and the kids' club. More? Stroll over to the clubhouse for eats all day long, as well as evening drinks in the family bar, evening entertainment for all the family, and a scenic setting for Sky Sports and to use the free wifi at the bar. The clubhouse also has a shop if you'd rather sort your own dins. And that setting? Birchington Vale is on 100 acres of Kent countryside, three and a half miles from Margate and within easy reach of loads of family attractions including Howletts Wild Animal Park under half an hour away. Many local attractions lay on exclusive deals for park guests.

Camping pod

Liked: Stayed in a pod for 3 nights and found it to be clean and tidy as was the area outside. Shower block and toilets were cleaned twice a day and found them to be as expected and was ok to use, always had hand soap, hot water and toilet paper. The general cleanliness also depends on the guests using them! Staff around the park were very helpful, would definitely stay again.

Camping pod

Liked: Camping pods were really clean, and well equipped and much more spacious than anticipated. You get 4 plug sockets, a heater, table and chairs, a drying rack for clothes and some small storage. Pods were situated round a communal BBQ area and were a short walk to the shower and bar area, but not near enough that it was noisy at night. It felt like its own little area away from the main caravan park, which was nice. Bar had good kids entertainment, great park and play area for small children and was full of families so a very kid friendly atmosphere. Swimming pool was fun for small children. The welcoming team were so friendly and helpful, and I appreciated them calling before we arrived and they checked up on us too. We were able to get into our pod early which was nice. Bar staff were friendly and helpful as well.

Disliked: Swimming had to be booked in advance, so it was already full on the day we arrived - it would be better if you could book in advance. Slide was only opened for 15 minutes of the swim session which seemed weird and no proper showering facilities in the pool so you had to walk back to shower. Food and drink at the bar was gross, no real healthy options and food seemed expensive for what it was. The wine was disgusting also. Coffee was very expensive for just coming out a machine. One of the showers was out of order and no external lock on the women's shower rooms and toilets. Location was great - short drive to some lovely beaches and easy to get to supermarket, cafes, restaurants etc. However, you definitely need a car - not near to anything by foot. Very friendly, welcoming place.

Camping pod

Liked: We loved the camping pod and the staff were really friendly. The food was really good aswell. We enjoyed the entertainment in evening too.

Disliked: Didn't like the showers black mould in them and not enough space to get dressed or hang clothing or towels in them . A lot of games in the arcades were broken to, money got stuck and a lot didn't give tickets out so kids were disappointed. Need more games for older kids into there.

Camping pod

Liked: Friendly staff in the bar, the shop, reception and swimming The swimming pool was great My youngest (9) loved the park area. I felt that he was safe to roam

Disliked: Couldn’t hear what the compare was saying when using the microphone. It was muffled and unclear. The entertainment wasn’t what I wanted. The drag act wasn’t good, bingo wasn’t what I wanted to do, but it took over the whole bar area, so had no choice. My 15 year old was a bit bored.

Camping pod

Liked: Excellent facilities and activities provided for all ages. Accommodation and amenities above expectations. Sandy beaches, peaceful sea front walks and local amusements and events close by, including hornby museum and dreamland. Good times! Excellent! Gotta do again!

Camping pod

Liked: Staff were friendly Pods were nice

Disliked: Locked toilet block keys didn’t work well resulting in my child wetting themselves whilst I struggled to unlock door. Showers to hard to push and water scalding for kids. Path to toilet block so uneven and trees overgrown. Continuous humming of electricity/generator made sleeping difficult. Woken up at 4.30am by noisy people in nearby pod having a gathering outside drinking. Pod wasn’t that clean and found rubbish down the side of the bed

Camping pod

Liked: Booking and checking in no issues The pods were great beds comfortable and clean they get hot tho so recommend you take a fan in warm weather , we was a group family booking of 6 adults and 7 young children ranging from 4 months to 7 years plus 2 teenagers at 13 we found the pod area great being close together helped and the children loved the freedom of it and was safe for them to play outside nice and relaxing area not to far from toilet block or complex if you want to use it parking near by as well there is a community area with bbq and fire pit plus garden furniture but we didn’t make use of it as we had our own the play park was good as was swimming pool we had amazing weather to be able to sit outside and make the most of the pods definitely recommend and would return

Disliked: Would of liked opportunity to check in earlier especially with younger children as 4pm is quite late and although u have pass if earlier can’t use swimming pool so it is just the play park or arcade/club which can be expensive with a few children and if on a budget and in very hot weather like we had wasn’t a lot of shade 3 tables only had shade and these were being used which for a park that size isn’t good plus most places do give u this opportunity at cost which is always handy Washing up area needs bit of TLC and a bin as plugs constantly blocked with bits of food Play park needs a baby swing Food & drink over priced but we only used club once as we enjoyed the pods so much

Liked: I took my 4 year old 2 year old and 1 year old and they had an amazing time they love being out doors the pods were clean and comfortable and the entertainment and swimming pool were really good to entertain children

Local attractions

There's heaps to do for all ages and inclinations around this part of Kent coast and Kent countryside. All ages should have a hoot at Margate, with its lengthy sandy beach to bask on as well as a scenic harbour which should be your scenic spot for Margate fish and chips. Also on your list should be the Dreamland Amusement Park, then a jaw-dropped look at an attraction of a completely different vibe but a spectacular sight: the famed Shell Grotto and its huge mosaics made up of over four and a half million shells. Like quite a few fascinating things in humankind's history (aka, Stonehenge), no-one quite knows who put the shells there or why: let the kids enthral you with their increasingly bonkers theories while there. Family day trips include Diggerland, to drive full-sized diggers; Leeds Castle and Go Ape, and the 28 acres of grounds at Kent Life, the open-air museum and heritage farm park on the bank of the River Medway. All are 50 minutes' drive away. Canterbury and the Canterbury Tales are half an hour's drive away.
