  • Well-maintained family glampsite near the village of Smarden in Kent
  • A 35-minute drive to Port Lympne Safari Park; Canterbury 50 minutes
  • Secure site with communal kitchens, five minutes’ drive from shops
A five-acre site set between the pretty Kent villages of Headcorn and Smarden, Go Glamp is a friendly, family-run sort of place that welcomes kids and dogs. It has a chilled vibe so relaxation is never going to be a problem – and your privacy is pretty much ensured, thanks to there being plenty of space around the camping fields. Communal facilities include a kitchen area for food prep and washing up, and refrigerators to keep your food (and drink, very important) chilled. Sparkling-clean toilets and spacious warm showers are found adjacent to the car park. Mobile phone charging points are available, but please warn any teens that internet access is limited. Barbecues and firepits are available for hire, and buckets of wood can be bought for a small charge. Pick up essentials from the convenience stores in Headcorn (five minutes’ drive), or you can ditch the car and walk to the pubs in Smarden (half an hour) if grilling up supper isn’t on the agenda. A trainline runs along the back of the site, bound to London and back, where guests can spy on the occasional Pullman and steam trains (trains run twice per hour and not between midnight and 6am). Guests can also often spot light aircraft displays, hot air balloons and parachutists and wing-walkers from the nearby aerodrome. For your extra safety, the glampsite is secured with automatically closing electric gates; an entry code will be given to you on arrival. If you have any queries or problems, do ask the owners, who live on-site.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked This site was very clean and well maintained. The owner was always on his rounds looking after things and people. You could hear the roads from the big cat sanctuary just across the field which was nice.

They have a little pony called Tony. Does not like to be stroked, but nice to look at.

All day every day was a air show from the air field.

Disliked Not a big issue but this was quite a noisy site. There is a train track, road and some sort of constant beeping from the big cat sanctuary.

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Everything about it, from moment arrived met Alan the owner, such a nice helpful guy, never stopping, cleaning, greeting and generally being there.
He made pizzas Friday night, we missed his Pimms night.
Site had 7 Bell tents, a Yurt and Shepherd's hut, mainly tents then, we were only motorhome.
Great location near Big Cat Sanctuary, could hear lions, next to Headcorn aerodrome so constant view of parachutists, Saturday a full air show of vintage bi planes.

Disliked Nothing, ok maybe facilities "rustic", but quirky and a work in progress, but functional, never had to wait for shower or toilet despite site full.

Bell tent (four person)

Liked Everything about Go Glamp is exceptional - all down to the efforts of Alan and Kim. The campsite is immaculate and so family friendly. The tents are gorgeous, clean and spacious. What makes this place so special is the extra care Alan and Kim - the communal fridge, the indoor area with sofas and kitchen facilities (life saver on rainy days!) and the attentiveness of Alan as he does his rounds each evening, making sure everyone is happy.... and that's all really just the start of it. Add to this the delicious homemade pizzas on a Friday night, the pimms on a Saturday and this campsite is in a class of its own. Waking up to the sound of the roaring lions, sitting having a cup of tea watching people far braver than myself jump out of a plane, before taking a short stroll to Sam's lakes for a bit of fishing... all this together made for a perfect family camping trip - one that we'll remember forever. We left less than 24 hours ago and already planning our return! Thank you Alan and Kim! <3

Electric optional grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely site, great to hear the bog cats next door.
Flat pitches, clean toilets and sbowed. Quiet at night. Bar some minimal traffic noise and some trains, but these stop over night.
So dark at night, the stars are amazing!

Frogdale cabin

Liked Fantastic hosts made us feel really welcome. The site it's self is lovely and clean with enough space to give you privacy but small enough you can get to know the people around you. Great location with lots to do nearby. Overall one of the best sites we have stayed at.

Local attractions

If you want to get active on your glamping break, the whole family can have a runaround on treetop ropes at Go Ape Bedgebury, or go dinghy sailing and climb the inflatable courses at Bewel Water (both half an hour’s drive). Slow things down with nature rambles around the arboretum at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (35 minutes). Plenty to do with animals as the focus too: see silverback gorillas, big cats and African elephants in semi-wild enclosures at Howletts Wildlife Park (50 minutes), or take a jeep safari at Port Lympne Safari Park (35 minutes) to spy on rhinos and stately giraffes. If you have younger kids in tow, let them have a cuddle with the friendly inmates at Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats (20 minutes). Canterbury Cathedral (50 minutes) may be calling to history lovers, who can visit the scene of Thomas Beckett’s murder in 1170, before having an amble around the city centre’s half-timbered streets to the porcelain collections in ornate Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. The medieval cathedral and Norman-era castle in Rochester (40 minutes) are both open to tour, or you can do a spot of window shopping on the historic high street.
