General

If you're looking to get away and have a nice quiet relaxing holiday this year, why not visit Braid Farm located in rural countryside in the heart of Kent, with 18 acres of fields, paddocks and woods including a fishing lake and two ornamental lakes.

We are within driving distance of local Kent attractions and have pet wallabies on site. Home-grown produce is available to buy as well as homemade jams and chutneys, cakes and a selection of homemade meat and fruit pies.

The site also has a large range of home-cooked food from the licensed kitchen. Choices include steak, steak and kidney or chicken pies, shepherds pies, beef cobbler and much more.

Spacious field with limited number of caravans. Very friendly owners. 26/08/2016

Campsite was spacious, with limited number of caravans alongside a large field. The site itself is quiet.
The caravan was well equipped and clean.
The owners Anne and Stuart were very friendly and helpful. They made an effort to make us comfortable. Questions were answered and remarks were taken seriously. We traveled to Braid farm by train/bus and on foot. Stuart lend us their bikes, and offered us tomatoes from their own garden. When we left, Anne gave us a lift to the bus stop.
Anne makes delicious pies and cakes. For sale for a very fair price.
As for the site, the owners and the caravan, we would definitely like to come again.

    Disliked:

The campsite has no toilets or shower. Although we did not mind, it is good to know that you must fill the water tank and clear the (toilet) tank on daily base.
Daytime you can see and hear small aircraft from the nearby airfield. And there is a road nearby. We did not mind, even enjoyed looking at the planes and para-gliders. But, if you want silence you might not appreciate this. At night is was quiet.
Next to the house several campers and caravans were parked, this gave us a somewhat disorderly impression.
The only reason why we would hesitate coming back is the fact that we do not have a car and the are no frequent buses in Smarden.
