  • Family-friendly site on a hillside wooded glade with an old farmstead
  • A 15-minute drive to Brighstone Bay and 20 minutes to Compton Bay
  • Communal firepit and easy access to footpaths
All set to start your family break on the Isle of Wight? With Camp Corve as your base, it’ll be off to a flying start. The site is surrounded by an ancient woodland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 15 minutes’ drive away from the nearest family-friendly stretch of sand. What activities might you get stuck into around here? Walking, cycling, skateboarding, sitting around a firepit, swimming and surfing, to list but a few. There's a barn-based skatepark a couple of minutes’ walk away and it’s a five-minute drive to Military Road, which has sweet coastal views and beaches. Beach time? Head for the family-friendly Brighstone Bay, accessible from Grange Chine (15 minutes’ drive), or Compton Bay (20 minutes’ drive) for its north-westerly chalk cliff views and surf school. The quiet leafy lane leading to the site becomes a bridleway that leads onto extensive hikes through Isle of Wight landscapes too. Tucked into a hillside, Camp Corve's wooded glade is on an old farmstead with six acres of space. Vast skies and rolling countryside? Indeed. Private and sheltered by young and mature trees, wild plants and grass? Oh, yes. Birds and small animals also call this place home, so kids won’t be the only ones playing about. No need to sacrifice home comforts here, as the site has a ‘Squirrels and Hedgehogs’ toilet and hot shower building fashioned from recycled bricks from around the old farm. Power sockets are available, as is an accessible toilet. The ‘Ash Circle’ has two communal firepits with logs available and an outdoor sink for washing up. Cars are parked in the farmyard area, where there’s a wheelbarrow-trolley to transport your gear.

Camp Corve offers a peaceful, natural setting with spacious, secluded pitches. Visitors praise the friendly hosts, clean and well-maintained facilities, particularly the hot showers. The on-site skatepark is a hit with families. Some minor points include a lack of recycling bins and infrequent public transport. Overall, it's a highly recommended, tranquil retreat.

Liked Very friendly and welcoming. Lots of wonderful pitches. Great facilities and access to fridge.
Really near a bus stop. Highly recommended 😍

Disliked Come with provisions!

From the manager: Thank you so much for the lovely review. We’re really happy you enjoyed the relaxed feel of Camp Corve and found everything you needed during your stay. Great to hear the bus stop was handy too.

And yes, definitely arrive with provisions. We’re a little tucked away down here, which is part of the charm, but it does mean being prepared helps.

Thank you for recommending us and hopefully we’ll see you again.

Disliked 2 out of 9 nights stayed were excellent, 2 nights disturbed by kids shouting , screaming and running smock, other night disturbed by loud talking and laughing by group around fire pit on terrace area until midnight

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so pleased you enjoyed the site, the pitches and our facilities.

We’re sorry that a few of your nights were disturbed by other guests. We do ask everyone to be considerate of those around them, particularly later in the evening, and we’ll certainly keep a closer eye on this.

Thank you for recommending us, and we’d love to welcome you back to Camp Corve again in the future.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The site was fab. We’ve been to the island plenty but this was our first camping experience on the IOW.

Camp Corve was large enough to have plenty of space between pitches in your own little area, and to not be overly disturbed by anyone else or noise from the facilities, but small enough to get everywhere within a 2 minute walk.

The site is perfectly located to explore the whole island, with a stunning coastal drive along Military Road not too far away.

The owners were available (and friendly) but not intrusive. The site/facilities continued to be clean and tidy for the whole week, without ever really seeing either Hamish or Erin. We didn’t need their assistance during our stay, but they were friendly and helpful when we did encounter them.

My son loved the skateboarding lessons, and the purpose built skate park was truly excellent and well crafted. We believe it was a labour of love and it shows!

Clear skies every night, lovely birdsong in the mornings. We had a sweet juvenile Robin visit us every day for crumbs of our toast, which was a highlight.

The showers were excellent, particularly the outdoor showers in the wooden huts. Perfectly private, really excellent hot water pressure, and the corrugated clear roof really helped warm up the space under the morning sun. There was never a queue for toilets, showers or wash up facilities. Handy plug sockets in the toilet block, with space for electric toothbrush/shaver charging.

Lovely space for kids to roam and play on the large tiered field. There were lots of families visiting the same week as us, so it wasn’t necessarily peaceful whilst they were playing, but the evenings were calm and quiet.

At £28 per night, we would definitely come back!

Disliked Our only disappointment was the lack of freezer facilities to recharge our freezer packs. We made do with bags of ice from the supermarket but it would be really handy to have a freezer in the future; something Hamish said was an eventual plan.

From the manager: Thank you so much for this amazing review. We really appreciate you taking the time to share it. We love our site, so we’re thrilled to know our campers do too! We’re also really happy you got to see some of our wonderful wildlife up close. We’ll definitely look into providing an onsite freezer in the future.

Liked Wonderful hosts, beautiful location, amazing skatepark. We couldn't have asked more for a camping holiday location, and seeing our daughter spark an interest in skateboarding was so cool - the environment was perfect, really relaxed and friendly - no pressure just fun. Oh and the showers/facilities are great too! Kids (and us) didn't want to leave, however long you're planning to stay, book two extra nights because you won't want to go home!

We have already booked to return 😊

Disliked Having to go home

From the manager: Thank you so much for this lovely review. it really made our day! We're so glad you and your family had such a great time, and it means a lot to hear the skatepark helped spark your daughter's interest in skateboarding in such a relaxed, no-pressure way.

Thank you too for the kind words about us and facilities. We work hard to keep things welcoming and well looked after, so it's brilliant to know it made a difference to your stay.

"Having to go home" as the only dislike has definitely put a smile on our faces! We can't wait to welcome you all back.

Liked Incredible showers! Beautifully warm, high pressure and no annoying press buttons to keep them on. Plots were shady and secluded and the site was small and safe. Toilet block was clean, spacious and well stocked with TP and soap.

Disliked Having to leave!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much. What a lovely review to receive! We're really pleased you enjoyed the showers (we know how much a good shower can make or break a camping trip!) and that you found the pitches shady, secluded and safe for your family. It's great to hear the toilet block was kept clean and well stocked too. That's exactly what we aim for.

"Having to leave" as your only dislike is very much the kind of complaint we like to hear! We'd love to welcome you back whenever you fancy another stay.

Local attractions

With white cliffs and golden sands, the Isle of Wight's coast is likely to snatch your attention. Get the classic golden sand at Brook Bay (15 minutes) and then track down the traditional fishing cove Steephill Cove (15 minutes). If you want a vintage kind of beach day, head to Ventnor (20 minutes) to hire traditional beach huts with wheels. Blackgang Chine (10 minutes) is another spot full of heritage – it's famed as the UK’s oldest amusement park. The 400-foot drop tower has views of the sea before the big drop. Those of you keen on gathering some historical knowledge can pay a visit to Carisbrooke Castle (15 minutes), Mottistone Gardens and Estate (20 minutes), Model Village Godshill (10 minutes) or the 88-acre Robin Hill (20 minutes). The Needles Landmark Attraction (half an hour), of course, is a must-see with views of white cliffs and demos like glass blowing or sweet making. A botanic garden, zoos and a farm park are within a short drive of the site.
