Incredibly enjoyable family feel to the site. We hardly saw our eldest (6) from the moment he got there as he made friends straight off the bat. Very short drive of around 5 minutes to the zoo (which our 3 year old twins still fell asleep for) and the play park was lovely. Lots of other things going on there which we didn’t get around to doing but the phrase “I’m bored” wasn’t mentioned once.

    Disliked:

Lack of signposting or signage generally to the toilets and wasn’t told where they were which made for an adventure of the distressing kind 😂

From the manager...

Thank you very much for your review. So glad to hear you had such a lovely time. The toilet signage is a great idea, i will bring that up at our monday meeting! I really hope you didnt get caught short!!

See you again soon,

Team Marwell

These have done so much work to the place over lockdown and it has all paid off. Absolutely brilliant place to stay. We are looking forward to going back.

The main camping field that we were in had an electric hookup and was a short stroll from all of the amenities. We booked in to do the on-site high ropes course and the instructors we brilliant. They also offer, quad bikes, archery and clay pigeon shooting.

There is a new addition of a crazy golf course which was great fun. We did not use it but there is also a large soft play barn for younger children.

The restaurant and bar was lovely with good food. The atmosphere made it feel like we were away on holiday.

The Marwell team are fantastic and could not do enough to help. From the instructors literally holding our little girls hand on one of the high ropes obstacles to the team in the cafe and the team on reception that answered all of our pre trip questions. All we pleasant and wanted to help.

The location of the site is lovely, set around two lakes. One that is used for fishing should you be in to that sort of thing.

As well as the camping site, they also offer Bell tents, safari tents and lodges.

This place rocks! My hope is that as it develops further it does not lose its original Activity centre DNA and move to much towards a “Resort”.

Local attractions

Marwell Zoo (five minutes' drive) has over 140 different species to admire – you can also leave the car back at base and stroll over (about 20 minutes) for a pedestrian safari. Paultons Park (25 minutes' drive) is another perennial fave for family-oriented days out – here you can meet Peppa Pig, crash down log flumes or opt for wanders through a dinosaur-filled forest.

The South Downs National Park has some truly splendid hiking trails, including the 100-mile-long South Downs Way (the trail starts 15 minutes down the road in Winchester). Mountain bikers also have plenty to choose from around these parts – an exhilarating bike track through the woods is on hand in the nearby village of Bishopstoke (10 minutes).

The gorgeous New Forest National Park (25 minutes) is also within easy reach, and one of the best ways to get around is by open-top tour bus. There are three routes to choose from – it all comes down to whether you prefer vistas of heather-covered heathland or coastal explores. Speaking of the sea, beaches like Lepe and Highcliffe Castle (both 40 minutes) are very much worth the journey (make sure to pack jelly shoes and a towel if at all tempted).
