  • Glamping site with family activities at Marwell Resort in Hampshire
  • A 20-minute drive to Peppa Pig World and 15 to Winchester
  • Bar and restaurant; quad biking, soft play, archery and clay shooting
What a cracking place for a family holiday. What’s not to love about a glamping holiday with kids that gives you access to all the activities in Marwell Resort, near Winchester, Hampshire? The accommodation at Bell Tent Glamping at Marwell Resort is in… er, bell tents, and they’re all ready and waiting for you, so you can crack on with being on holiday from the moment you arrive on the camping field. As far as practical concerns go, each bell tent has a double bed and two singles (all with proper mattresses) as well as snuggly carpets, heating and power. Stuff that’s also included includes cutlery, crockery and a welcome pack of basic bits and bobs like tea and coffee. All you need to remember to pack is pillows, duvets and towels. Outside you can spark up the barbecue and eat at the picnic table. Don’t feel like cooking at all? Marwell Resort’s got you covered, with a restaurant serving really good food. And those family activities we mentioned? A soft-play centre for the youngest kids. Quad biking. Archery lessons. Clay shooting, fishing and zipwires… get the picture?

#3 bell tent

Liked: Very family friendly site, with really clean shower and toilet block. Great play area for kids and good to have a restaurant and bar on site. Location also excellent for day trips to Marwell zoo. Fantastic activities on site, but they are expensive which is a shame.

Disliked: Bell tent was quite smelly and had mildew on the inside walls of the tent. I know it has been a damp summer, but not sure how well the tent had been getting aired. The Kitchen tent, had basic equipment, but didn't have veg pealers, or small sharp knives, or any cafetieres - not a complaint, but useful to know in advance. Fellow campers were not great at cleaning up after themselves, so cooker stove was dirty, dirty spoons had been used for the sugar and lids left off tea jar. Been glamping and camping before and first time I have encountered this.

Liked: Loved the facilties available and all staff were so friendly. Food at the site was great (a bit expensive)

Disliked: I would not call the bell tents and area as "glamping" Toilets and showers are shared with all campers (not just bell tent area) same with the toilets. No mirrors in the glampsite or hairdryers No sink available other than two fields away No spoons, had to use forks for tea and coffee. Just mattresses on the floor in the tent (have to bring your own quilts and pillows)

Liked: Fantastic campsite with great facilities for young children. It was our first glamping experience with our 3 and 5 year old. They loved it. The bell tent was very comfortable and spacious. The campsite manager was very friendly and my kids enjoyed playing her son. Campsite has great facilities such as soft play, mini golf, playground bar and cafe. Also marwell zoo is only 5 mins away which a great day out.

#3 bell tent

Liked: Lovely site with a good bar/restaurant and a range of activities.

Disliked: Shower/toilet area needed cleaning more regularly. The bbq was unclean. More activities for under 8s. The kitchen/communal area needed some maintenance. Also if the site was full it would not be big enough to cater for all.

#3 bell tent

Liked: Really cute teepee tent with comfortable beds. Campsite has lots to do such as bar, entertainment, parks, crazy golf ect. Such a family friendly vibe! Shower rooms and toilets are clean. I loved the big gazebo area with seating and fridges. Everything there to cook with plus tea and coffee.

Disliked: Wish we had known prior to our stay that we could book activities as we missed out on these. Would have also been great to know that everything needing for cooking and eating with are all on site if staying in teepee’s. We ended up filling the car with all our camping kit which we didn’t need.

Liked: we stayed in the bell tents, really enjoyed our trip. Facilities were clean and functional, tents were well kept, clean and ready for us upon arrival, owners were welcoming and even had tea, coffee kettle, fridge etc which in 30 degree heat was amazing! Local attractions

Well, the news for kids just keeps getting better: Marwell Zoo (10 minutes’ walk) is right next door to the camping field and in the morning you might get to hear monkeys chattering in the distance. You could easily spend a day there, getting (relatively) up close to endangered tigers and leopards, watching comical penguins splash around their pool or puttering around the grounds on the mini-train. And shush – whisper it in case the kids hear and mutiny if you say “no” to going – Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World is 20 minutes’ drive down the road. It’s probably on the bucket list of all younger kids for the Peppa Pig-themed rides, and older kids for the high-octane coasters. You could also try Ninja Warrior UK Adventure (also 20 minutes) in Southampton, with climbing courses and soft play guaranteed to (hopefully) wear the children out. If you’re trying to introduce a bit of culture into the family holiday, ancient Winchester (15 minutes) is a lovely place to start, with a stately cathedral, medieval Great Hall and Old Bishop’s Palace to discover, as well as 4D journey through the Solar System at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium (20 minutes).
