What customers say
This adults-only, dog-friendly campsite offers a relaxed, back-to-basics experience in a beautiful woodland setting. Guests praise the friendly and helpful owner, Kylie, the freedom to choose pitches, and the quiet, natural atmosphere. While facilities are basic and some report them as dated, they are generally kept clean. Fire pits are available to hire, and the location is ideal for exploring the New Forest. Some guests noted potential noise from the working farm and a desire for upgraded shower/toilet facilities, which the owner is reportedly addressing.

Unwelcoming

Liked I’m a fab if basis sites so this fits the bill
Disliked The number of rules for an adult only site which only came to light following the booking made me feel unwelcome before I’d even arrived. Then the lady who met us on arrival was really snotty. Needless to say we won’t be back!

From the manager: I’m really sorry you felt unwelcome and that I came across as “snotty” – that was never my intention. I always want our guests to feel comfortable, and I wish you had spoken to me onsite so I could have addressed any concerns straight away.
I do try to keep the rules simple and fair, mostly to make sure everyone can enjoy their stay safely and respectfully. Just to clarify a few things for future reference:
Quiet time is after 11 pm, and vehicle movements after 10 pm can disturb other guests.
Everyone onsite needs to be over 21.
Fires and BBQs need to be in purpose-made firepits, and please don’t put them directly on the ground.
We don’t allow illegal drugs, and we kindly ask guests not to feed the livestock.
Vehicles not being slept in should be in the carpark, and the woodland isn’t suitable for vehicles.
I hope this helps explain things a bit, and I really appreciate your feedback. We always want to improve and make everyone’s stay enjoyable.

Electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)
Liked We had a great stay, lots of options of where to pitch up the tent with a nice view of the woodland and lake. The host is absolutely lovely and very accommodating, checking everyone’s okay. We will definitely be staying again.

Perfect stay
Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked Very peaceful even on a busy bank holiday.
We came on the Sunday to join family already there. There were no issues on being able to pitch next to them, under the trees.
Check in was really easy and we found Kylie friendly and welcoming.
The toilet/shower block was clean and usable. Although a little dated, we had no issues.
All campers were friendly and respectful of the rules. We enjoyed watching the other groups playing rounders on the field and watching all the wildlife. We saw some red kites, lots of swifts flying over the field, dragonflies and the friendly little robins.
We did hear a couple of owls and a woodpecker.

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked Really nice site, owner is lovely and it’s nice to be ‘in the forest’ as opposed to most campsites which are just fields. You can put your tent in the shade and get a great nights sleep. The location alone is worth coming for.
It’s also nice that they segregate group sizes, so as there were just two of us we could camp in a quiet spot away from the bigger groups even on a full bank holiday weekend.
The shower and toilet block are tired but they aren’t that bad compared to some campsites. They’re certainly clean which is the most important thing.
I really enjoyed the wildlife and the tawny owl.
Disliked Dislike is too strong a word - I just think it would be nice if they had a fridge / freezer for guests like some campsites do. Not essential but nice to have, especially if you stay for more than a night or two.

The campsite was very small, overcrowded and not as advertised.
Non-electric forest floor tent pitch
Liked Close to romsey
Disliked Everything else. Not enough room for activities. Smell from the toilets and cattle was very unpleasant. Uneven ground for us to pitch on. The surrounding areas and onsite “lake” were very disappointing.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments, although I do believe you may have us confused with another site.
Your booking with us was for the August bank holiday, and as part of a large group (initially 7, later increased to 9 without prior notice), you were allocated to the group area. Had you remained 7, the original area would have felt more spacious, but with 9 guests you were moved to the larger group section, which naturally adjusted the space allocation, though there was still ample room.
I’m also unsure what activities you were expecting onsite, as we do not provide or advertise activities. The village green, only a short walk away, is suitable for football or rounders if needed. As an over-21s site, our guests generally do not require dedicated activity space, and our pitches are more generous than the standard 8m x 8m usually offered elsewhere.
We also do not advertise a lake. The reclaimed body of water on the farm is part of ongoing land development and not a feature for guest use.
As a nearly-wild site on a working beef farm, the ground is intentionally natural, and during an unprecedented heatwave/drought, livestock can inevitably be more noticeable.
Lastly, I would note that no concerns were raised during your stay, and it has been almost a month since your visit before these issues were mentioned. This makes us wonder whether your feedback may relate to a different campsite altogether.
