Non-electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Exactly what I wanted, our motorhome has solar panels so I don't need hook up, it's a very secure, safe site, with both EHUs, drinking water and a waste point. I would definitely return. Short walk to a couple of pubs. My partner came down for one night and we had a delicious Sunday roast at the Hunters Inn about a mile away. Host is very friendly and helpful and his dog mentioned on previous review is lovely, he only barks for a few minutes when you arrive, the rest of the time I was there he was quiet.

Disliked: NOTHING!

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: If you have the amenities with your motor home/camper then this is a perfect retreat. There are EHUs and drinking water. It’s very peaceful and very safe. There is also a waste point. I would definitely return…a perfect no stress weekend break. Short walk to a couple of lovely pubs. The route number 66 bus stops just outside £2 each into Romsey.

Liked: I loved how peaceful this site is, seeing the peacock walk around and fluff his feathers was awesome! Listening to birds chirping in the background whilst chilling in the van was just what I needed! Thank you for a fab stay!

Non-electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: It's a yard. That's it. I was expecting gravel pitches, as described, ie a gravel pitch with grass to put an awning or similar on. The owner is trying to make money for nothing - I'm used to paying this price for loos and showers, so trying to tell me it's why the price is low was a load of rubbish. I didn't stay, the yapping dog had already become annoying in the few minutes I was there - no way could I stay with that next to me. I use a wide variety of campsites and pitches all across the UK - this isn't either of those and I'd stay well clear. I also won't forget to check reviews in future.

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Site was quiet and host polite and knowledgeable about local area. This is a basic no frills site hence the price. There is a dcp and bins but no showers or toilets. Fine if you have everything on board. Highlight was watching the deer and peacock

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Guy called me back quickly.

Disliked: Pictures said rural views and showed green fields. When we finally arrived (really hard to find) we were asked to camp in an old lock up yard with engines and rubbish piled up and strewn all around. He closed the gate behind us, we were two friends together and both felt unsafe in our vans. No other guests there. Big scary looking dog in his accommodation right next to us. Guy said he was new to it all and was planning to fix it up. Fair enough and he seemed a nice guy but sorry we didn’t want to stay there.

Local attractions

If you need to stretch your legs (and those of any accompanying dogs of course), the verdant water gardens and woodland trails at Sir Harold Hillier Arboretum (five minutes’ drive) couldn’t be more convenient. If you have a bit more time on your hands, climb up to the triangular monument in Farley Mount Country Park (10 minutes) for spectacular views across woodland right to the Solent. There are more hikes to be had in the New Forest National Park, where you can keep an eye out for native ponies running wild and encounter endangered otters at New Forest Wildlife Park. Wind up a day in the park with afternoon tea at New Forest Lavender Gardens (all 20 minutes) before plundering their gift shop for lavender-themed souvenirs. A whistle-stop tour of ancient Winchester (20 minutes) can include a guided tour of the splendid Gothic-era cathedral (spot Jane Austen’s tomb in the nave) and the vaulted Great Hall constructed at the order of William the Conqueror. Travel back to present day to learn about the cosmos at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium (also 20 minutes).
