  • Peaceful site on the edge of a Hampshire village
  • Sir Harold Hillier Gardens 1.5 miles; Winchester 20 minutes' drive
  • Fishing lake available; under a mile to the nearest pub
Lakeside Wild Camping is a place to immerse yourself in nature – those passing through this peaceful part of the world often spot hares, birds, three species of deer and, occasionally, an elusive otter. Located in the green Hampshire countryside, this site is within easy walking distance of the small village Braishfield and close to lots of excellent visitor attractions including Winchester, Paultons Park and the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Getting here is very much a memorable experience in itself, as you'll need to travel down a farm track through a field of friendly cows (and another field of sunflowers, when they're in season) to reach your pitch. Once here, you can look forward to a good standard of facilities and plenty of space, plus access to a secluded fishing lake (angling is available on site). Itchy feet? Footpaths are on hand to reach villages in the immediate vicinity, making it easy to get to Braishfield's village pub (20 minutes' walk at a leisurely pace) or to explore further afield. A 10-minute drive will take you to the red brick market town of Romsey on the gorgeous river Test, where there are shops, restaurants, cafés and a railway station.

Liked: This place was out of this world! So quiet and peaceful, full of nature and wildlife. We had the most relaxing nights stay. The stars on a clear night are insane. There were two loungers by the little lake, which were perfect for star gazing. We went on a lovely walk. So many animals to admire. Its perfect for a few nights stay. Thank you so much for having us. We will defiantly be back again!

Disliked: Toilets could be upgraded. And boards put down in some particularly boggy areas to aid cars when travelling in. But other than that it’s beautiful

Liked: All the site had to offer, the camp was remote enough to not have mobile reception but close enough to town to entertain the children. I will definitly be visiting again at some point.

Liked: Instructions received from owners was very clear on day of arrival. Owners are also on hand at all times, very helpful, friendly and approachable. We ran into an issue and were helped immediately! Pitches are spacious and private. Shower, water and toilet and located nearby. Very quiet and peaceful - it was fully booked when we stayed, and we still felt as though we were in out own world! Lovely stay.

Disliked: No phone signal - not an issue for us as we enjoyed shutting off from the world, but mentioning incase it is an issue to others.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely lovely place to stay! We stayed Monday to Friday. The kids loved the lake, exploring and fishing and we enjoyed the local family friendly pub near by. Sarah the owner was wonderful and very welcoming. Kids can’t wait to stay again. The wildlife was great and they caught lots of fish so they were very pleased with themselves! Great place to bond with family as no phone signal or Wi-Fi! Absolute heaven.

Disliked: Nothing!
