General

  • Wild camping on a Hampshire farm just outside the South Downs
  • A 15-minute drive from Alice Holt Forest and Birdworld; golf nearby
  • Pubs five minutes’ drive away; walking and cycling trails nearby

From steam train rides and a traditional fairground to treetop trails and cycling routes, you’ll be setting down in a rural plot at Bury Hill Farm, a wild camping site 10 minutes’ drive away from Hollycombe Steam in the Country and 15 minutes from Alice Holt Forest and Birdworld.

Just outside of the South Downs National Park, this site is part of a Hampshire farm less than 50 miles from London with miles of walking, cycling and hiking trails in the surrounding area. This is also a good place to try your hand at polo (25 minutes' drive away at Cowdray House) or golf (there are two courses 10 minutes’ drive away).

If scenic market towns weren’t already on your radar, they soon will be, as this site is within driving distance of Petersfield (15 minutes), Farnham (25 minutes), Haslemere (15 minutes) and Alton (20 minutes). Of course, there are some comely places to eat out here, or a few good local pubs (restaurants and shops too) in Liphook, five minutes’ drive away.

On site, you’ll have the run of a quiet and private field one mile from the A3 where there are basic facilities – just a toilet block and wifi. You’ll be able to bring along your own barbecue if you wish.

Nice site but failed to deal with noisy campers21/09/2022

This campsite is essentially a large field on the grounds of a farm. It's a pleasant environment with basic but clean facilities and plenty of space.

    Disliked:

My negative review is regrettably due to the other people staying at the campsite at the same time as us, and the owners lack of action to address the issues either at the time or in response to a request for a refund following the stay.
We have been advised that the noise policy is 'no loud music after 11pm'. What we experienced in reality was a large group of approx 4-5 tents who gathered around a campfire and played music, talked, started car engines/lights and generally kept us awake all night. Their music was not turned off until around 6am and whilst not particularly loud, in an open field, it kept us awake all night. The level of noise was to the degree that we could hear conversations, including foul language, and the campers did not go to bed all night. We were too intimidated to approach the campers at the time ourselves, as we had arrived after dark from a local wedding and were just a party of 2. We were very disappointed that the owners who live in the house on site, did nothing to address this. When we made a complaint and asked for a refund we were told that the campers had not broken their noise policy. I would never stay here again if this behaviour is deemed acceptable by the owners, and have never stayed anywhere before where this kind of all night noise is tolerated, particularly at a site marketed as 'quiet'.
