Set in the New Forest National Park at Godshill in Hampshire, Croft Cottage Camping is a pop-up site that opens for 28 days every year. On arrival, you’ll receive an enthusiastic welcome from the owners Helen and Bill, who live in the 16th-century thatched cottage overlooking the field. Everything has been well thought out. With a handful of pitches (electric hook-ups are available if needed) surrounded by mature trees, it never feels hemmed in, and you have green space in the middle of the field for volleyball games (it’s a bit of an evening tradition) and general family larking about. There’s enough to keep the kids entertained on site too, with the table-tennis matches, inquisitive alpacas to feed and eggs to be collected from the free-range chicks. The list of facilities may be short, but everything is well-maintained: two shower and loo blocks, a washing-up area, waste-disposal amenities and EV charging points. A welcoming pub for pints and meals is 10 minutes’ walk down the road, and there’s an essentials store at the neighbouring holiday park (five minutes’ stroll). For bigger stock ups, Fordingbridge (five minutes’ drive) has a supermarket; there’s also a farm shop 10 minutes away by car.

Liked Location, the owners are lovely and friendly.
Allowed us to stay, even though our campervan was too long. However the owner told everyone who came in after us- awkward when it was your son and his family.

Disliked Facilities- only 2 toilets and 2 showers.
Showers- water was intermittent between very hot and cold.
Advertised for campervans, motorhomes and trailer tents- but owner prefers tents. Our campervan was just over the required length, which I failed to read in the blurb.

Liked Bill and Helen are so welcoming,,
Its a small campsite , which is what we like, kids are safe, even tho ours are teenages now, have been coming since they were 6 months old and now there 14 , very clean and tidy campsite,, facilities are very clean, lovely having sandy ball next door for extra facilities., ie the arcades.for the kids, bar for the adults and launderette if required , its also so close to loads of activities in the forest , like lazer tag in woods, moore valley , new forest water park just some things , its so close to fordingbridge for supermarkets, pubs and the river were the kids play in .
love doing the volleyball even if the weather was not the best this bank holiday . Will book for same time next year .

Liked Great spot and small.
Great for children to play in front of your pitches.
Good sized flat pitches.
Two toilets and two showers- one gas, one electric. Both work perfectly fine.
Some chickens and Alpacas there to for the kids to see. The local pub is amazing!

Liked We have just arrived home from a lovely weekend break here with our 3 young children. We were greeted warmly by Bill and Helen who showed us to our pitch. Pitches were a very good size, enough for our car, large tent and extra space next to the tent. We liked that the campsite is smaller and enclosed so we were able to relax without worrying about where the children were as they were within our view at all times. There was plenty to keep the kids entertained, slides, ride ons, ball games, table tennis. Bill came and got the children in the morning to feed the alpacas and chickens which they thoroughly enjoyed! Shower, toilet and washing up facilities very clean and well kept, we will definitely return here in the future.

Liked Croft Cottage Camping was great as our first ever camping experience. The kids loved it! It was lovely to be able to let the kids play in an enclosed space without worrying. Very friendly and Family feel. Kids loved the Volleyball, Alpacas and Chickens! Toilets and showers were always very clean. Would highly recommend Croft Cottage Camping.

Liked Absolutely loved our weeks stay. My son really enjoyed the volley ball and Bill the owner was fantastic and really enagaging. The alpacas were gorgeous too :) the location was also good and fordingbridge is a great place too.

Fordingbridge Visitor Centre (five minutes’ drive) is a mine of information, so make that your first stop if you want to get out and about in the New Forest National Park, where walking and cycling paths wend their way through woodland and rugged heathland. Remember to look out for wild New Forest ponies on your adventures – if you’d like to give riding a go yourself, there are stables five minutes’ drive away. Kids are well-catered for too; you can keep them busy on the floating climbing courses at New Forest Water Park (five minutes), or make a beeline for Bournemouth beach (half an hour) to ride the helterskelter on the pier or paddle in the sea. Animal-mad families can spend the day watching flight displays at Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre, or feed the handsome Shire horses at Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park (both 15 minutes). If you have toddlers in tow, Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World will probably be on your sightseeing list; the treetop rope courses at Go Ape Moors Valley (both 20 minutes) may appeal more to teens looking for a bit of daring activity.
