  • Adults-only site surrounded by 30 acres of peaceful parkland
  • A 10-minute drive to Audley End House and Gardens; Cambridge 35 mins
  • Within walking distance of village pubs, farm shops and cafés
Hello, 30 acres of peaceful parkland and goodbye noisy kids… Debden Park is an adults-only site with grass parklands and a quiet location in Essex with views over Debden Lake. With running water and a compost toilet, all folks who set down here should be set for a peaceful getaway. There’s a public footpath that goes from Debden Park to the villages of Debden, Widdington and Newport. With each route taking around half an hour or so (avoiding the roads) and the end destinations having at least one excellent pub, this is bound to keep you quite occupied. For good coffee and locally sourced snacks, the site runs Ninas Farm Café, which is a 15-minute walk (or a two-minute drive) from the site and open on weekends and bank holidays from 9am to 3pm. For fresh farm eats, there are many farm shops around too (including one 40 minutes’ walk away). The site has direct road access, making it easy to get out to historical properties such as Audley End House and Gardens (10 minutes’ drive) or to Cambridge (35 minutes) for grand architecture, bookshops and river punting activities. If you are going to the concerts at Audley End House, the owners advise you to arrange your transport well in advance, as it's almost five miles away, and the area doesn't have many taxis. It's a little too far to walk but easy to get to by car or bike (for experienced cyclists). Debden Park has views of (not access to) the lake. It runs a farm with horses, sheep and pheasants, so well-behaved dogs are welcome (as long as they are kept under close control at all times). There are basic facilities (no showers or electricity), but a gorgeous, untouched setting and good 4G signal (usually).

What customers say

A peaceful, spacious and clean adult-only campsite, ideal for attending concerts at Audley End. Visitors praise the friendly and exceptionally helpful owner, Lynne, and the quiet, natural surroundings offering beautiful countryside views. While basic, the well-maintained compost toilets and water supply are appreciated. The site's rural location means transport to local venues may require advance planning.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Host was lovely
Very quiet
Beautiful area
Nice pub within walking distance

Disliked We were the only ones in the field and we had to keep our puppy on the lead at all times.
I understand it's a rule but I feel like a well behaved puppy in a corner of an empty field should be ok, but the host did cycle over to my area and insist he be on a lead, which of course we abided to.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Perfect camp site for attending a concert at Audley End. Camp site clean, loads of space, really quiet. Compost toilet is a great addition. You can apparently walk over the fields to Audley End, we got a lift from the campsite itself which was so usual. Lynne was fantastic, so friendly and helpful and is on site for anything you need.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked A beautiful spot with a lovely view. Very quite. Delightful friendly owners. Walks from the site. Composting toilet clean and very useful! Taxi could be arranged for music festival goers although I was not going. Take risers!

Disliked Maybe have a sign on both sides of the entrance as I missed it despite what three words. But I was found by the lovely owner.

Route directions

Please note that the site should be accessed from Newport because turning into the site is easier coming from the Newport side due to the angle. Turn onto Debden Road, travel for just over one mile and on the sharp left-hand bend where you see the black and white chevron road sign, Debden Park is immediately on the right. The site doesn't have a postcode so they suggest you follow the What3words location: pocketed.vital.comforted.
