General

  • Adults-only site surrounded by 30 acres of peaceful parkland
  • A 10-minute drive to Audley End House and Gardens; Cambridge 35 minute
  • Within walking distance of village pubs, farm shops and cafés

Hello, 30 acres of peaceful parkland and goodbye noisy kids… Debden Park is an adults-only site with grass parklands and a quiet location in Essex with views over Debden Lake. With running water and an Elsan point, all folk who set down here are in for a peaceful getaway.

There’s a public footpath that goes from Debden Park to the villages of Debden, Widdington and Newport. With each route taking around half an hour or so (avoiding the roads) and the end destinations having at least one excellent pub, this is bound to keep you quite occupied.

For hot brews, cakes and the likes, there are cafés within half an hour’s walk of the site and for fresh farm eats, there are many farm shops around too (including one 40 minutes’ walk away).

The site has direct road access, making it easy to get out to historical properties such as Audley End House and Gardens (10 minutes’ drive) or to Cambridge (35 minutes) for grand architecture, bookshops and river punting activities.

Debden Park has views of (not access to) the lake. It runs a farm with horses, sheep and pheasants, so dogs are welcome (on leads) by special request only.

Basic site in quiet area with friendly staff08/15/2022

  • Liked:

Quiet site during the day with friendly onsite staff, great stop-over or short stay site to facilitate visiting local areas of interest. Basic facilities (standpipe & Portaloo) but as stated sufficient for an overnight or short stay, we used it to attend a concert at Audley End House, basically 5 minute drive in and out - fantastic!

    Disliked:

Not necessarily a dislike, but the site is not very clearly marked from the road and postcode sends you in the wrong direction. Owner sent ‘three little words’ location which was good but received 30 minutes after arrived via WhatApp - better if this was on the details on Pitchup?
Plus if you like to have a bit of a lay-in in the morning bring ear plugs as the planes taking off from Stanstead are fairly regular flying overhead. Again not a huge issue or a dislike, but just worth noting

Quiet location and close to Audley End House,Safron Walden and Duxford.
I want to say a special thanks to Karen who went out of her way to drop us and pick us up from our concert as we were disorganised and struggled to get a taxi.Lynn and her husband were very helpful and friendly too.
    Thoroughly recommend staying here.

    Portaloo.
Karen the owner was also helpful.

    Disliked:

There were water issues when we stayed at the site: the water was only turned on a few times a day.
We resorted to buying water to ensure continuity of supply.

The noise of the planes taking off from Stansted were unexpected.
