Liked: It was a very quiet site with lots of families with young kids running around having fun! Only stayed one night and had not troubles finding pitch top toilets were nice and clean and warm!

Disliked: Did not like the other "wooden" toilets at the other end of the campsite, the Eleanor point was smelly, the electri doded doors were a bit fidly and did not work all the time!

Liked: Great site, large pitches, clean toilets/showers. The farm and crazy golf were good fun too.

Disliked: £12.50 for 4 x cans and a bag of crisps in the Cafe in the village

Liked: The sites were clean and well maintained, facilities were in a convenient location, clean and we'll stocked.

Disliked: Would be good to have a playground for the kids that didn't cost anything to use, also a wee shop for the basics i.e. milk & bread

Liked: The staff are very friendly and helpful. They readily agreed to refund part of my payment when my plans changed and I had to leave early.

Disliked: I staid in March and there was some building work going on. Main gate is locked overnight, so make sure you know the code to get in.

Liked: Pitch was a lovely size and well kept. Nice surroundings.

Disliked: Showers/Toilets were difficult to get into as couldn't get code to work, also could do we an update. Let the site down a bit.

Liked: Good facilities in the way of toilets and showers,pot wash too. Good sized pitches. Short walks near horse paddocks. ideal for families with kids. Near supermarket for supplies but far enough sway to be quiet of a night time.

Disliked: Can be windy due to open areas surounding. Although trees have been planted.

Local attractions

Bounce down to Basildon (10 minutes’ drive), where the town centre has cinemas, a shopping centre and plenty of restaurants and pubs where you can spend evenings away from base. For more urban explores, you’ll be about an hour by car or train from central London, making Barleylands a top option for weekends away from the capital or a mix of rural and city days out. Getting to the seaside is also easily arranged here, as Barleylands is 20 minutes from Thorney Bay beach, a family-friendly spot on Canvey Island with great views over the Thames Estuary. Southend (30 minutes) is also an option for traditional days by the beach, with amusements and a pier to sweeten the deal. For more things to do, take the family off to Adventure Island theme park (30 minutes), Diggerland Kent (40 minutes) or, for quieter times, try stately homes like Hylands House (25 minutes) and Boreham House (25 minutes), both of which have a range of gardens and pretty parklands to explore.

Admission

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Extras

Facilities/activities including entrance to the farm are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

General

Bookings must not be for more than 7 consecutive nights.
Quiet hours must be respected between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.

Occupancy

Group bookings of 3 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Firearms are not permitted.
Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
Open fires are prohibited.
Please do not touch or feed the animals.
Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Vehicles

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.

Additional terms

Please be aware, during late November and through December, the site hosts party events and there is music until late at night which may be heard on the campsite.
