Rural views but with an extra dose of comfort? Make your way to the mighty-fine East Sussex countryside, where Scallow Campsite sits in a rural spot between East Hoathly and Waldron. The glamping pods here are really rather cosy and they each sleep two (either close friends or a couple). Each one is equipped with a gas burner, refrigerator, TV and wifi, so you’ll be well set for facilities and entertainment. Supplies are on hand at a farm shop 10 minutes' drive away and there are more shops in Uckfield or Heathfield, which are both 15 minutes’ drive away. Countryside rambles? Sorted – this is an excellent base for such things. For gentler days, there are historical houses and gardens within 25 minutes’ drive of the site. As for those wanting to visit the coast (for fish and chips, a dip or a day of games by the sea, perhaps), the lively scenes at Eastbourne (35 minutes) and Brighton (40 minutes) are also well within reach. Whenever you fancy yourself a pint or a glass of rosé, or perhaps a lush dinner, it's handy to know there’s a pub 20 minutes’ walk away from the pods and another two pubs five and 10 minutes' drive away respectively. For those times when you’re taking on the role of chef yourself (or just fancy keeping warm while you sip a glass of wine), the outside of each pod has a decking area with a chiminea and a barbecue. Other handy facilities include separate showers and toilets, together with an outdoors washing-up area served by hot water.

Liked Peace and quiet. Shower and toilet block was very clean and well fitted, once you found them

Disliked It would be nice to have a simple plan of the site, so that you didn't have to ask others where the toilets were.
Some information about things to do, rather than a blurred map would also be good

From the manager: Thank you for your review it is very much appreciated having your constructive feedback. We provide fibre wifi so that guests can access the internet easily to find out what is in the local area. We provide a map of the footpaths in the area so that guests are able to walk the local routes. The map is taken from the website footpaths.co.uk. The toilets and showers are located in the yard 50 meters from the campsite and are clearly marked on the doors.

Liked Very clean and tidy site with immaculate toilet facilities. Almost home from home.

Disliked Pitches were hard standing and we were asked not to drive on grass. Impossible to site caravan without driving on grass.

I have staff who come every morning to clean the facilities and make sure that everyone is happy with everything. We take great pride in our customer service. It was unfortunately that I was not around to see you. We are a five pitch site and staff are not around all the time. Our site phone is manned 24/7 and someone would get back to you if there was an issue and sorry that this was not obvious to you. All the details are in the noticeboard at the entrance to the site.

Disliked Shower room window overlooking washing up area. Perhaps a towel in the toilet and slightly larger sinks.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
There is no reception at this site. Please check in at the The Pod has a Key Box instead.
The site will send you further check-in information 7 day(s) before your arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 7 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £20.00 fee.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.
Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
Refunds within the indicated cancellation period are only possible if the site is able to relet your unit/pitch.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
