Looking for a simple, peaceful and community-oriented retreat? Based on 33 acres of land in Kingston, a peaceful village in the South Downs National Park, Lovebrook is exactly that. Get back to nature and take in the simple pleasures of the wide-open fields and South Downs views, then walk over to the country pub a few minutes’ walk down the lane, which has a food menu, outdoor tables and a spacious playground. Lovebrook is part of a multi-faceted ecological community project, so all profits go towards running wellbeing and nature activities for underserved or vulnerable groups. With direct access to the South Downs Way from a 10-minute footpath at the end of the lane, it's an excellent spot for tackling the long-distance trail or shorter walks. The grassy tent pitches are spread over a huge field with rural views and good stargazing (on clear nights). Each one is an individual circle mown into the long grass, connected by pathways, to give you plenty of privacy. There are simple facilities on site, including composting toilets, washing-up facilities and – set a short walk away from the site – a warm shower. Saturdays are lively on the farm; wake up, grab fresh coffee and pastries from the pop-up café and buy local produce from the farm shop. Then, join a drop-in yoga class or book an hour-long session at the woodfired sauna and cold plunge. If you've got the kids with you, they might like to drop in to the Family Nature Club on Saturday mornings, too. The working farm hosts a market garden on its veg plot throughout the week and you may spot the team hosting groups for nature activities on the land. There's also a standing stone on site; feel free to wander up there for good views and ask the team about its story. Off-ground fires and barbecues are permitted on site. There are no bins or recycling facilities, so all rubbish must be taken away. Cars aren't allowed on pitches but you'll be lent a wheelbarrow to shuttle your stuff around. Kingston is a peaceful village with a 13th-century lane, so it’s well-suited to quiet, family-friendly breaks.

Liked Had a great stay, landscape is beautiful and people lovely. And limited pitches so lots of space. Have booked to return.

Disliked Suggestion. It was very windy one evening and would be a nice option to have a few pitches next to the tree line so a bit of protection if conditions very windy but just a thought :)

Thankyou for your feedback. In our camping description we clearly state we are a quiet and family friendly campsite. We also only take small booking numbers and only have 6 pitches. So we are trying in every way possible to keep the site suitable for all with a chill and relaxed vibe. This being said we can't help if some people are louder and with lots of football festivites happening at the moment this was a one-off

Liked Camping pitches were large, level and reasonably spaced apart

Views of the surrounding hills were stunning

Washing up sink was a good size, had clean running water

Provided plenty of toilet paper. Provided hand soap and clean running water

Shower was a good warm temperature

Disliked The farm had loud neighbours that were in the houses adjacent to the camping field (very loud music and shouting until gone 3am)
Bring earplugs!

Compost loo smell was very strong in hot weather
Loo seat too high for shorter people/children

Car park is very small and good 5 minute walk from pitch

Shower had rusty screws sticking out, lock was broken, algae on the floor
On/off shower button was 7ft high

Your options include Cuckmere Haven (25 minutes), a beach with watersports, or the rural beach town of Seaford (20 minutes). Beachy Head (35 minutes) is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain. It’s on the way to Eastbourne (35 minutes), where there are yet more seaside amusements and a huge watersports scene.
