  • Family-friendly yurts with hot tubs in the East Sussex countryside
  • A 15-minute drive to Knockhatch Adventure Park; Bateman’s, 25 minutes
  • Outdoor dining set, firepit, barbecue and kitchen in each yurt
Settle in, make yourself at home. You should have no problem getting cosy in Graywood Canvas Cottages’ luxury family-friendly yurts. They have a kitchen, bathroom and a private hot tub… and if you fancy some stargazing, just follow the carpeted staircase up the mezzanine bedroom underneath the dome. The yurts were designed and built in Seattle in the shadow of Mount Rainier, but now they’re in a fab rural setting on a small working farm in East Sussex, a mile from East Hoathly and 25 minutes from the family-friendly Knockhatch Adventure Park. The materials used within the build are very robust and they’re often used for full-time homes in the United States. The tall designs are fitted with full-sized French doors (so no stooping is necessary) and the windows are over two metres wide (for clear views of the countryside). Many UK yurts are missing solid doors and windows, but the owners of Graywood Canvas Cottages are of the mindset that natural lights and fab views are key to the holiday experience. Open up the windows in the bathroom and bedroom to let in the fresh country air as you like. Clean and comfortable, the yurts are provided with towels (for the tub and bathroom), linens, duvets, pillows, dishes, cutlery and crockery. The bathrooms have a flushing toilet and shower with plenty of hot water and some complimentary products. In the kitchens, there’s a washer-dryer, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob with extractor, toaster and kettle. Each yurt’s ground-floor bedroom has a super-kingsize Hypnos bed and the galleried first-floor bedrooms have three single Hypnos mattresses (they can be arranged as a king and single too). There are three sofas, dining table and chairs, an outdoor dining set with six chairs, a firepit, barbecue, ice bucket, electric heaters with a flame-effect fire, a TV, DVD player, and satellite for Freeview channels.

2 bedroom yurt

Liked: These yurts are fabulous. Kitted out to a really high standard - everything is so clean and looks brand new. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Every last detail has been considered - heaters and fans in the bedrooms. Bathroom products. The kitchen has every bit of equipment you need so no need to bring anything - even down to a grater/corkscrew/pizza cutter. The star gazing dome and galleried bedroom is gorgeous. The 3 single beds can be zipped together to make different size configurations. There’s a black out blind - wise to use it or the daylight streams in at 5am!! We loved the hot tub - whatever the weather. The outdoor dining set with fire pit set into the table was a nice touch too. Lovely and sociable to sit around the fire at eye level. Bring your own wood - local garages sell it but at quite a price! The hosts were nearby but left us alone after ensuring we had everything we needed. It really is the most beautiful setting with every last thing catered for. Luxurious accommodation in peaceful countryside.
