  • Peaceful family-run park on manor estate with fishing and horse riding
  • Cuckoo Trail walking and cycling two minutes' drive away
  • Additional toilet block with disabled room and underfloor heating
What a handsome site – and what a handy location. Have yourself a holiday at Horam Manor Country Park in East Sussex for a peaceful and roomy setting as well as proximity to walking and biking paths, fishing, horse riding, tennis and golf – and quite a bit more on and off site. A family-run and friendly park on a manor estate, Horam Manor is only a couple of minutes by car from the Cuckoo Trail, the scenic 14-mile path trail along the old Cuckoo Line railway track from Heathfield to Eastbourne Park. Previous guests have esteemed this site most highly for the friendly and helpful approach of its family team, its modern and immaculately kept amenities, and its range of activities and leisure facilities for guests young and old. Fishing, woodland walks, nature trails and horse riding are available around the estate; and play areas are on site and in the adjacent village. The friendly welcome extends to family friends too, with a dog walking area close by and a dog shower and dog water bowls thoughtfully added around the grounds. As you might expect, the amenities are also excellently thought out: there are two toilet blocks (one of which has underfloor heating), spacious showers, private wash cubicles and a fully equipped disabled room. A laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, both coin-operated, is also available to guests. Fires of any kind are not permitted, but barbecues are welcome as long as they're kept off the grass (the site supplies bricks just for this purpose). The park has a small grocery shop selling basics such as milk, sweets, ice creams and drinks; it also stocks local produce such as jams. More shops and a pub are in Horam, a few minutes' stroll away. And if you're here for the seaside, beaches at Eastbourne and Lewes are within half an hour; Brighton is within 45 minutes and famed seaside towns such as Rye and Hastings are 30 to 45 minutes from the site. Local buses serve all major towns in the area.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We have stayed at Horam before and returned last week where we were greeted by friendly staff. We stayed on the top field on the grass pitches and the size of the pitch was fantastic. The shower block was clean and tidy. I used the laundry room as well which was value for money. We had a lovely week away as a family and will definitely be returning.

Electric grass pitch

Liked This is a lovely campsite. The washrooms were clean and had very good showers. We had two pitches next to each other which were a lovely big size so plenty of room around us. When I had so questions before arriving, they were very quick to respond. 100% recommend this site.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The showers and toilets were clean, the shower stayed on when you were in there and you didn't have to keep pushing the button. Freezer on site for ice blocks which isn't mentioned was really handy as well.
The location is good and does have pub/cafe walking distance however does have very early shutting hours.

Disliked The flush on the toilet took forever to fill up which resulted in a lot of backlog where people didn't want to wait for it.
The pitches are very uneven around the outside, they are incredibly close to each other with no room to play games. Some pitches were placed in front of others which meant those behind had no view what so ever.
The staff were rude, drove around a lot to "check on you" and question whether you have paid for extras like a gazebo. They asked my partner what her job was and when she said they responded with "oh I don't like them type of people" - she is a bus driver 🤦🏽‍♀️.
The gate at the front is locked for security reasons over night however when we were there we had an emergency where someone had to attend A&E and we had to ring a number and wait for them to come and unlock the gate before we could leave. This could be changed to a combination lock like other places are.
The drinking water was not cold, if anything was luke warm so to have a cold drink you had to purchase this from the shops.

From the manager: Hi Hannah. Thanks for taking the time to review us. We're pleased that the site had some features for you to appreciate. We are now aware of the issue of slow cistern filling, and will be addressing that issue during the camping field close season. We have no control over the water temperature unfortunately; the incoming mains (drinking) water is supplied direct by the water company and we do not interfere with it. The layout of the pitches can be puzzling, however, we have many group bookings for whom the layout is ideal. With regard to the main gate policy; in line with most touring sites, we have a responsibility to ensure guests safety and wellbeing. The policy regarding emergency opening is well explained at check in and has thankfully only been necessary on two occasions this year. The waiting time to gate opening is minimal as we are on site in the proximity of the gate. Our wardens aim to ensure that each guest enjoys their stay with us. They do endeavour to make sure that guests have no major issues, which does involve travelling around the site and communicating with guests, and where they do come across guests who need assistance they are there to help. We cannot claim that Horam Manor Country Park is to everyone's liking as it's difficult to be all things to all people. Thanks again. T&D and the Team
