Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: This place is great and just off the road in to Hastings! There is a lot of year round plots which made us feel like our tent/pitch area was safe. It was lovely a quiet which was perfect for us.l and our dogs.

Disliked: There needs to be separate changing rooms, it’s hard getting changed in the shower rooms on a wet floor. Very minor.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Staff were amazing Plenty of space Open fires & bbq Small site Location

Disliked: Chemical toilet block really smells, next to outdoor washing up facilities All toilets were inside shower rooms so when all showers were being used had to wait quite a while for the loo. Be good if there was extra couple of separate toilet’s

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Small family run site. All staff were friendly. Shower blocks were clean and campsite was well maintained.

Disliked: Wasn't told that the showers only take 20p coins so wasted money trying to have a shower as it took any coins but only switched the shower on if you put in 20p coins. Noisy tent next to us playing music loudly til late at night keeping everyone up. No WiFi availability

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Meadowview is security protected; Coded barriers on entry and exit. Mainly Residential but fits tourers and campers. Facilities for showers, toilets, and kitchen duties are respectability clean. There is a mobile bar, and small shop. A fenced waste disposal is at the exit. Site is quiet and respectfully maintained. Driveway is softly lit and doesn't distract campers.

Disliked: Grass pitches are slightly sloped. Not a problem for touring vans but you will need blocks for extra support for supporting legs; ground can be soft. We couldn't pickup TV signals whilst there; satellite dish will be required. WiFi signal is poor, as is phone signal.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: + In a nice area + Showers are warm + Couple at the Naughty Corner were friendly The site is in a nice area within a quick drive of Battle and Hastings.

Disliked: - Noisy in the days and nights - Need separate toilets to showers - Shower block needs a refurb - Cafe open at weekends only - Pitches are on a slope The nearby road is very noisy. I had hoped the people commenting on it were unlucky with the wind direction, but it was the same every night. The site didn't enforce the 11pm quiet rule while we were there. The big group who pitched up next to us on the second day (pretty much touching our tent) had a fire burning constantly from the moment they arrived (while chatting about how bad cigarette smoke is for you, haha) and were so loud we ended up sleeping in the car. I anticipate a reply of "why didn't you tell us?" but it would have been obvious it was us who complained and we were worried about that. During the days, the work happening at the workshop next to the tent field was loud. The toilet/shower block needs an overhaul, but the showers are nice and warm. Don't forget 20 pence pieces if you stay here. I purposefully chose a place that had a cafe/restaurant, but it was only open at the weekend, which isn't stated on PitchUp. We left a day early, but would have left 2 days early if we hadn't had a booking for Battle Abbey (which is well worth a visit btw!) (Thought I'd better mention this next bit as some replies from the site owners seem to try to discredit people by pointing out they scored their own accomodation low - maybe try to focus on the other points as you appear defensive?). I've scored my own accomodation a 4; a bigger tent would have been better, but probably a bit tricky for me to put up as a single mum. I'm going to score the car we slept in for a couple of nights a 4 too as it was quite comfy and had good sound insulation, but was too small again.

Liked: Meadowview Park is a great family friendly campsite. The residents are fantastic - they made homemade donuts for the children which was a lovely touch! The site itself is peaceful & well kept. The toilet blocks are clean and regularly maintained. As a family we used both the bar and the cafe, both of which score top marks for atmosphere, quality and cleanliness. Also as an added bonus, there is a garden centre within walking distance from the site. Overall a great experience, we have been two years in a row now and are likely to return.

Local attractions

You don’t have to go far from Meadowview to get your fill of sightseeing. The coastal town of Hastings is a 15-minute drive from the site – explore the streets of the Old Town, visit the museums and the ruins of the 11th-century Hastings Castle, climb to the skies on the East Hill Cliff Railway funicular or dive below the ground at St Clements Caves. Not all of the stately homes near Meadowview are in ruins, and some have interesting literary links: the Georgian Lamb House in Rye was home to Henry James, Bateman’s in Burwash is where Rudyard Kipling lived until his death, and Monk’s House, an hour away, was the retreat of Virginia Woolf. Away from novelists, the spectacular 14th-century moated castles of Bodiam and Scotney are both within half an hour of the site. There’s more to this part of the country than history and it might even surprise you. When you think of wine regions, you possibly think of France, Italy and Chile – well, now you can add Sussex to that mental list… Grab your sober buddy and head for tours and tastings at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard or Carr Taylor Wines, both within five minutes of Meadowview, or Kingscote Estate, Court Garden Vineyard, Ridgeview Winery or Bluebell Vineyard, all around an hour away. For more kid-friendly activities, head to the aquarium in Hastings or join in Smugglers Adventure at St Clements Cave.
