Planning your getaway doesn’t have to feel like launching a military campaign – at Meadowview Park, a peaceful and secluded site less than 10 minutes from the town of Battle in East Sussex, it’s a breeze. This part of Sussex is 1066 country, so diving into the history of the battle that changed the course of England is a must – at the site of the world-famous Battle of Hastings, less than 10 minutes’ drive from Meadowview, explore the ruins of an abbey built by William the Conqueror, follow the sculpture trail, visit the gatehouse exhibition and climb to the abbey’s roof for views over the battlefield. There are plenty of pleasant walks in the area around Meadowview, so bring Rex along and he can have a break too – there's space to have a walk around the park as long as dogs are kept on a lead. When you’re feeling peckish, fire up the barbecue or get that campfire burning to sort dinner. You can get all the essentials in Hastings, 15 minutes from the site, or head to one of the restaurants within 10 minutes of Meadowview. Wash down dinner with a drink at the pub in Sedlescombe, 15 minutes' walk away, and grab sweets and ice-cream for dessert at the small shop on site.

Liked Great site with a nice bar and cafe (really cost effective food options). Showers were clean and 4 minutes was certainly long enough for a shower.
Everyone was very friendly and we will 100% go back

Disliked There is a slope on the camping field but for us was no problem at all. The road can be loud (obviously beyond the sites control) but was no problems for us.

Liked Friendly staff.
Good attempt to better campsite with a nice bar plus Cafe ( which we didn’t try but seemed popular. Toilets clean. Nice wooded area to camp in.

Disliked Noise from A21.

Noise from late evening until 2.40 am from other campers.

Dirty nappy and discarded bowl on our pitch when we arrived. This was dealt with straight away by owner.

Disliked Pitch was on a slope and I was in a tent
Lots of rubbish and dumped furniture behind my pitch
Toilets and facilities were a fair distance from my pitch
Very loud campsite with caravanners who are there permanently screaming and shrieking until late

Liked Er waren 8 badkamers en wij waren vrijwel de enige die er gebruik van maakten. Hele lieve gastvrouw. Leuke avond in de pub gehad. Heel rustig op het veld. Heerlijke stortdouche.

Disliked Sloped field for tent pitches, which makes it a bit dificult for a tent pitch. Amenities a bit far from the tent field.

Liked Great location close to battle and Hastings. The campsite bathrooms were very clean. The pub on site was lovely and all the staff members were lovely and welcoming.

Disliked The site is on a hill. Also a bit of a pain the showers are 20p i never have any change so had to ensure we got money out which wasnt the end of rhe world.

Liked Loved everything about this site. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to find and we had a lovely pitch. The showers and toilets were large and clean, there was even a disabled shower and toilet. We particularly liked the bar and food hut where we were able to play darts and watch the football match on their screen and have breakast, sausage and egg roll with tea and coffee in the morning without having to leave the site. Wi-fi was good, activities (bingo and DJ on the night we stayed) were all good. We had a wonderful overnight stay and would definitely consider going back there again. Definitely value for money. Thank you Meadow View Park for a wonderful stay.

You don’t have to go far from Meadowview to get your fill of sightseeing. The coastal town of Hastings is a 15-minute drive from the site – explore the streets of the Old Town, visit the museums and the ruins of the 11th-century Hastings Castle, climb to the skies on the East Hill Cliff Railway funicular or dive below the ground at St Clements Caves. Not all of the stately homes near Meadowview are in ruins, and some have interesting literary links: the Georgian Lamb House in Rye was home to Henry James, Bateman’s in Burwash is where Rudyard Kipling lived until his death, and Monk’s House, an hour away, was the retreat of Virginia Woolf. Away from novelists, the spectacular 14th-century moated castles of Bodiam and Scotney are both within half an hour of the site. There’s more to this part of the country than history and it might even surprise you. When you think of wine regions, you possibly think of France, Italy and Chile – well, now you can add Sussex to that mental list… Grab your sober buddy and head for tours and tastings at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard or Carr Taylor Wines, both within five minutes of Meadowview, or Kingscote Estate, Court Garden Vineyard, Ridgeview Winery or Bluebell Vineyard, all around an hour away. Admission

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Extras

A charge of £0.20 applies for the use of the shower.
Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
