Keen to have a look at Lancashire and a sneaky peek into Yorkshire? Lurk for a while at Calder Farm for a peaceful break with views to Pendle Hill in the spectacular Ribble Valley. This is a scenic pitstop for exploring the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (10 minutes’ drive) or hopping counties into the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes). Sparkling clean facilities on this family-run site include a heated toilet block with disabled access to the showers and washing-up area. Barbecues are permitted (but not open campfires please), and you’ll need to bring your own firepit, although you can buy wood on site and picnic tables are provided on the tree-sheltered field. Stock up on barbecue supplies in the supermarkets of Clitheroe (15 minutes’ drive), and if you’re just not that into cooking on your Lancashire camping break, there’s a gastro-pub and microbrewery in the pretty village of Bolton by Bowland (15 minutes’ walk). Your family dogs are welcome to join you on the many footpaths direct from the site, and there’s also a dedicated dog-exercise area in a fenced field – the owners do ask, however, that dogs remain on a lead while around the site. And talking of animals, you’ll soon be firm friends with the horses and ponies grazing neighbouring fields.

Liked Fantastic location- surrounded by beautiful countryside, pretty village with great pub about 10 minutes walk across the fields, views of Pendle hill from site.

Simple check in -arrive and just choose your pitch, and well maintained site with good hard standing and spacious pitch.

Facilities - warm showers and heated block, clean and well supplied with toilet roll, underfloor heating a bonus in January!

Cute pony and frolicking horses in the field.

Liked What a great site. Heated toilets/showers were perfect when the temps hit -8 over New Year! Really good value site (especially compared to others we looked at over New Year). Wi-fi included as well although we had a great phone signal there too.

Such a quiet campsite in a beautiful area, a great year to end 2025 and start 2026.

Lots of hiking direct from the site on very quiet and what appear to be hardly used footpaths.

A perfect location for our dog who doesn't like fireworks.
We have been to this site foe many years at bonfire and new years eve and it is so relaxing.
Owners very helpful.
Wonderful walks nearby including Pendle Hill.
A 10 minute walk to the nearby pub.

Oak camping pod

Liked We love everything about this place... Pods are clean and spacious, room outside to sit and have a drink with a firepit and a lovely pub 10 mins walk up the road. Our dog Luna loves it too and the best part is, the owners leave you to your own devices unless you need them. 😁
We came this time with friends for new year who were in the other pod. The great thing is they are far enough apart to feel like you away on your own but are big enough to all get together for a game of cards of a night if we want ...which all 4 of us like.
Looking forward to another visit in the warmer weather. 😁

Try your hand at fly fishing for trout in Stocks Reservoir (15 minutes), or take in the moorland scenery of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (10 minutes) on rambles across the fells. Fancy spending the day in North Yorkshire countryside? Head for the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes) to potter along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on a barge cruise from Skipton (25 minutes), or yomp up Castleberg Crag from Settle (20 minutes) and be sure to have a look around its lively market if you’re visiting on Tuesday. Wander around the photogenic ruins at Bolton Abbey (35 minutes), and then have gentle ambles to the spectacular limestone cliff at Malham Cove (40 minutes). Once firmly back in Lancashire, follow the Pendle Sculpture Trail through Aitken Wood, or climb flat-topped Pendle Hill (both 20 minutes) and learn about the fate of the infamous Pendle Witches on the looped Walking With Witches Trail.
