  • Well-maintained, adults-only touring park in the Ribble Valley
  • A 15-minute drive to Clitheroe and 40 minutes to Yorkshire Dales
  • Easy access from the M6; restaurants a couple of minutes' walk away
A countryside location but with easy motorway access and restaurants a few minutes’ walk away? That’s the fine mix you’ll get at Northwood Caravan and Holiday Park, a family-run park in Lancashire’s lovely Ribble Valley. It’s a peaceful setup indeed here, as it’s an adults-only park with plenty of space to relax on the touring pitches and take in the views over Longridge Fell. The team that run the site take great pride in their place, as you’ll note from the pics of the immaculately maintained and landscaped grounds. Equally well maintained are the facilities, which include water and electric hookups and a smart modern amenities block with top-notch showers, a laundry area and accessible bathroom facilities. This is a popular area for walkers so bring your boost along: as well as the Ribble Valley itself there are miles more trails nearby along the coast, in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Being about 10 minutes’ drive from the M6 also means it’s easy to get to the Lake District with minimal fuss. If you need any advice on where to walk, have a chat with the owners – they’ll happily point you towards their favourite spots. For eats, there are Italian and Indian restaurants a couple of minutes’ walk away, and there are several other pubs and places to eat within five minutes’ drive (plus a Michelin-starred number 10 minutes away). Whalley and Blackburn are both about 10 minutes’ drive away for shops and places to eat.

What customers say

This is an immaculately maintained, adult-only site with friendly and helpful owners. Pitches are well-spaced and level. Facilities, including modern toilets and showers, are consistently praised for their cleanliness. The location is convenient for accessing local restaurants and transport links. Some guests noted road noise and barking dogs in the vicinity. Shower facilities are coin-operated and can be small with limited changing space, though owners have taken this feedback onboard.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked A beautifully maintained site which is immaculately maintained and has two great restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The owner Walter is always available to help and clearly loves the site. You will not find better.

Disliked Although again although immaculately maintained the showers are a little on the small size and don’t have a dressing area.

Electric optional gravel motorhome pitch (maximum 7 metres)

Liked What a lovely and well-maintained site. It is consistently kept clean and tidy. Walter is always available if you require assistance and is very helpful.

Disliked There appears to be no toilet roll holder in the toilet.
Additionally, being somewhat isolated has its advantages, though it can be less convenient when simply wanting to go for a walk.

Liked We were met on arrival by Walter the owner.

Walter was so friendly and helpful and made us both feel very welcome he is clearly passionate and quite rightly proud of the lovely immaculate site.

The shower block and facilities were all exceptionally clean.

There is also lots of information on hand about the surrounding areas made available.

Two local restaurants within a couple of minutes walk and a bus stop which takes you to Clitheroe should you wish to use the bus service.

An excellent stay thank you so much we will return.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Adults only site, very clean and quite level pitches...well manicured and nicely spaced out pitches..Nice welcome from the site owner. Bus stops to Clitheroe and Preston only a couple of minutes outside of the park. Toilets very clean and great wi-fi (if reqd)...

Disliked Could be better signposted from busy A road.....Showers were very small and 20p per minute with very little room to change....Electric kept tripping out on bollard despite only using fridge and kettle on electric. Heating was on Gas continually during stay. Never had this happen anywhere else, went to a different caravan site and was OK there....

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your positive comments they really are appreciated.

If your kettle kept tripping the electric then the fault is with your kettle. We have had no problems with the customers on that pitch prior to your arrival or after.

There is a large white sign with a green tree directly outside the park.

We say to anybody using the showers pull the privacy curtain across and then get change in the area between the two showers. The showers are 20p a minute but they are not push and hold. They are power showers.

Local attractions

Peer into the past… Samlesbury Hall (five minutes' drive) has witch tours, a heritage café and the historic house to look around, while in Whalley village (10 minutes) there’s a Cistercian Abbey, plus a viaduct, river walks and independent shops to choose from afterwards. The foodies and gin connoisseurs among you won’t be left out around here. Clitheroe (15 minutes) is a fantastic foodie town, thanks to its food festival and market (not forgetting the castle for an extra helping of history), and the Brindle Distillery (15 minutes) is a good way to wash it all down with a gin tour. Now for some nature – some good places to find that include the Brockholes nature reserve (10 minutes), Bowland Wild Boar Park (25 minutes) and all the walks around Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales (40 minutes). Those of you who aren’t finished with the action of a town or city might also want to pay a visit to the Haworth Art Gallery (25 minutes) and all of Blackpool’s attractions (half an hour), including the theme park, water park and piers.
