  • Family-run Lancashire site next to 12 acres of young woodland
  • Less than a mile from Ribchester; Forest of Bowland two miles
  • Dog and bike washes on site; bus stop a few minutes' walk
Preston and Blackburn are both within half an hour's drive of Dale Hey Touring Park – but this lovely Lancashire spot is a thoroughly rural place where you'll be able to slow down and soak up some proper countryside vibes. This is a place that’s been designed with the express aim of helping guests appreciate the outdoors – and part of that mission is purposely not offering wifi, to encourage visitors to switch off and connect instead with family and friends, or with the surroundings. And what fabulous surroundings they are – the site is next to a 12-acre broad-leaved woodland planted in 2003, and it's got well-maintained gardens with open grass spaces, formal planting and wildlife-friendly stumperies. Getting to know your new temporary home should be straightforward, as there's a clearly marked trail taking you into the woods, and you can join several other paths directly from the site. The River Ribble and riverside Ribble Way are less than a mile away, as is the pretty village of Ribchester – home to several pubs and cafés, a playground and a handy local shop. For jaunts further afield, there’s a bus stop a few minutes' walk away. Life on site is fairly simple, but the essentials are in place, including a washing-up area and well-kept bathrooms with disabled facilities. Given that the trails of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape are only a couple of miles away, it's also handy that there are dog and bike washing facilities on site.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site is lovely, with nice facilities and great pitches. The owners/managers were really friendly. The passkey entry system was also a really nice touch. There was also a lovely wooded area to explore. Shame we only stayed 2 nights and didn't have chance to explore further.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A lovely welcome from the owner who let us choose a pitch, a very relaxed park with woodlands, everything you need good facilities, owner gave us information of places in the area, we went to The Shed which was 15 min walk for a glass of wine, also a lovely place then into ribchester for food , next day we got the bus into Blackburn for a wander, on return sat outside the van for our tea and took in the views of the well kept grounds , will definitely return back here , a little gem of a site

From the manager: Lovely walk to Stydd Gardens and the wine shed. The Croft cafe is super too. Blackburn cathedral has a cafe underneath it Checks and Greys which is recommended. John does take pride in maintaining the grounds. Thanks for coming and see you again soon.

Liked: The quiet location. The warm welcome. The facilities were very clean and the water lovely and hot in the showers. We were impressed that the Catherine had managed to get the bus to stop right outside even though it isn’t a designated stop! We had a lovely ride into Clitheroe. We would visit again
