General

  • Immaculate, peaceful and adults-only park newly opened in 2019
  • Countryside setting 20 mins' drive from Blackpool and 30 from Preston
  • Lounge, bar and smart, modern and spotless amenities

You might not be the type to pick a park solely on the strength of its smart and immaculate amenities… but casting an eye over the site pics at Wilson House Holiday Park should convince you that you surely should.

Newly opened in 2019, Wilson House takes rightful pride in its swish and modern bathroom block – with separate areas for ladies and gents, as well as spotless toilets, showers, washing-up areas, private wetrooms and facilities for disabled guests. The leisure facilities are well thought out too, with a handsome lounge area and a licensed bar available for guests: buy your drinks here at the honesty shop, or bring your own along if you'd rather. (Guests should be aware that this is a remote location with no shops or other amenities within walking distance.)

The bar's a pretty fab place to chill out after a day of rambles, and there are plenty of places to pick from for that… The park is in peaceful Lancashire countryside, within 15 minutes’ drive of Garstang and from there another five minutes or so to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The coast is close by too: the beach at Knott End-on-Sea is 15 minutes away, Blackpool is within 20 and Lytham St Annes is 40 minutes from the park.

Heading inland, the southern tip of the Lake District is 40 minutes away and Windermere 55, or if you’d rather stay close to your swish base, the North Lancashire Loop passes by the park.

Please note

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, customers can amend their dates with the campsite/holiday park free of charge for all stays up to, and including, Thursday 31 December 2020.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The bar facilities are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

As a rural caravan park, Wilson House can only use an organic toilet fluid to dispose of waste. Please don’t be offended if the staff ask to check as they have to regularly monitor this to maintain the treatment plant.

The park does not have any facilities to dispose of any waste that is non organic so it's recommended that guests empty your tank before arrival. Elsan Organic is recommended: please ask a member of staff if you would like to purchase or need any assistance.

An easy access site. Simple number plate recognition systen makes for a smooth check in. Pitches are very gererous in size and fully serviced. They are also flat with plenty of room for manouvering.
The shower blocks are like no where else, very modern and each shower room is completly self-contained. This makes for private and secure ablutions.
Unfortunately, due to the corona virus the lounge was closed. I will return next year when the site is fully opened. Great site, a proper gem. Thank you :-)

    Disliked:

The site is little out of the way the roads that lead to the site are narrow country lanes. in particular is the road to Garstang which is very narrow and in poor condition in places. Perhaps the site can advise on the best route to the site.

Local attractions

Walks, walks and more walks are all around if that’s your thing: if you’re feeling especially active the big challenge is the North Lancashire Loop, a 108-mile trail that passes right by the park. Too exhausting? Panic not – there are plenty of more manageable routes around as well. And if you want to take in a whole lot of scenery at once (and at speed)? There’s a parachute centre 20 minutes away by car.

Ever watched curling on TV and wondered whether you’d be any good with the broom? Head to Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre (15 minutes) to slither out onto the ice and have a go. There’s also bowling, a cinema and a crazy golf course here, along with a golf simulator where you can warm up for a round at Knott End Golf Club (15 minutes).

Although you’ve not brought kids, along, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy a bit of old-fashioned seaside fun. Blackpool (20 minutes) is a tiptop place for all that – head here to visit the zoo, the pleasure beach and model village, or waltz your way around the dancefloor at the Tower Ballroom before getting fish and chips on the beach.

Must see

  • The Blackpool Tower (8.4 miles)
  • Blackpool Illuminations (8.5 miles)
  • Central Pier (8.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Rufford Old Hall (17.0 miles)
  • Cartmel Priory Gatehouse (22.3 miles)
