General

  • Family-friendly caravan park 15 minutes' drive from Blackpool
  • Clean and well-maintained facilities
  • Directly adjacent to the watersports of Blackpool Wake Park

Get wet, get illuminated, get relaxed at friendly and award-winning Ream Hills Caravan Park: it's 15 minutes' drive to the lights and attractions of Blackpool and next to Blackpool Wake Park for diverting and damp days wakeboarding, paddleboarding, canoeing and open-water swimming, all under the watchful eyes of qualified and first-aid trained instructors.

Ream Hills is in a rural location but close enough to the M55 to easily reach Blackpool and many other bright north-west attractions; it has two camping/caravan fields and a tent field for canvas campers. Wifi access is available throughout.

Each field has an amenities building: one with a new block with loos, basins, free hot showers, laundry room and dishwashing room, and the other with a second block providing more loos and free hot showers as well as another dishwashing area. Fresh water points, a chemical waste disposal point and an outdoor playground are also close to hand.

A licensed café bar is also on site: the Greedy Goose, open from March until November (hours vary) and serving hot and cold snacks and boozy beverages.

Dogs are welcome at Reams Hill, but please note they're not allowed in some areas of the park.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Well kept, good facilities, helpful people, good location for doing ... 19/11/2018

Well kept, good facilities, helpful people, good location for doing things in Blackpool.

    Disliked:

Down to time of year, but with nothing open, there was no shop / bar / etc. There did not appear to be much in the way of dog walking, or walking paths more generally. You need to drive to go anywhere - roads were not walker friendly and there is nothing within accessible walking distance of the site.To be fair, this won't be a problem if you are using the site as a base for driving or at a time of year when there are things open at the wake park.

    Disliked:

Nothing the wardens were very friendly and helpful the only thing that was disappointing was down to us not doing our research we missed the reason for the trip my brother has never seen the lights so he still hasn't seen the lights. But the weather was kind and we had blue skies as I said above we will use the site again. That is IF it's available

Its a lovely site quiet, simple but nicely done. We are close to blackoool but just out of it all, it has a play area big feild to walk dogs (shame it says only on lead as my trustworthy dog would love to race round it). Site seams clean tidy but not checked toilet block. Waa greated by friendly staff but left to it. Also has a helicopter you can stay in which is quiet wierd to open window to in morning and pitches are a nice size also with a "garden" great site will stay again :)

    Disliked:

Only down side to being next to helicopter is we had 2 days where a few people walked through our pitch to look at it and they didnt seam to worry if anyone was in the helicooter or allow them to be private.

Friendly, helpful and clean! What more can you ask for?! They were very accommodating as we turned up early and we were able to pitch up. It was in a great location with a cafe on site which was nice. The facilities were excellent and it felt safe and secure for the children and for our motor home. Our best pitch up on the holiday!

Local attractions

Blackpool's Golden Mile, Blackpool Tower, beaches, Pleasure Beach theme park, shows and illuminations are within 15 minutes' drive of Ream Hills Caravan Park. The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, tower ballroom, tower circus, Madame Tussauds and indoor play area are also popular spots: best to plan at least a couple of days in town...

For sand and sea, Blackpool Beach is the busiest in the area; Bispham Beach is dog friendly, and (Lytham) St Anne's is a quieter and splendidly scenic spot with a long stretch of sand, dunes, donkey rides and bright beach huts.

St Anne's is also a popular place for kitesurfing, but wakeboarding, paddleboarding and other watery sports can be had at Blackpool Wake Park, directly adjacent to Ream Hills. Wakeboarding lessons are available here alongside equipment hire and taster sessions in kayaking and paddleboarding.

A bit further afield, walkers, mountain bikers, picnickers, anglers and wildlife watchers will find the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering 312 square miles and part of the main Pennine range.

If you only have a day to spare after the bright lights of Blackpool, have it in Beacon Fell Country Park, 266 metres above sea level and covering 185 acres of conifer woods and moorland; it has six car parks, a café, viewpoints, forest walks and plentiful places for picnics.

Must see

  • Blackpool Illuminations (4.0 miles)
  • Central Pier (4.1 miles)
  • Pleasure Beach Resort (4.1 miles)
