Example of hardstanding motorhome pitch

  • Peaceful adults-only touring site on a Lancashire farm
  • A 15-minute drive to the coast at Blackpool; 25 minutes to Lytham
  • Award-winning site with hardstanding pitches and easy level access
An active outdoor break or some time to chill out in the fresh air – it’s up to you how you spend your time at Charoland Farm Caravan Site, a rural Lancashire touring site a couple of miles from the small town of Wesham. In fact, you’ll be able to blend a bit of both easily enough at this spot, which is handily placed close to both the M55 and A585 for straightforward outings around the area – perhaps over to the coast for days in Blackpool, Fleetwood or Lytham St Annes. Looking inland, Preston and the Forest of Bowland National Landscape are both within a half-hour drive as well. Ribble Valley is around 25 minutes' drive away. As for the on-site relaxation aspect, that should be pretty easily achieved too – pitches at this site are for adults only, so you should find yourself surrounded by like-minded folk while you're here. That approach aims to maintain a peaceful atmosphere on site, which is further boosted by the rural surroundings of meadows and farmland. There are plenty of places nearby for walks and bike rides, although as there’s a pond at this farm site you may find that some wildlife makes its way to you from time to time. The touring pitches at this award-winning site are well-kept block-paved ones, with easy level access and grassed areas where you can put up an awning. The site’s service area has fresh and waste water points, a toilet disposal area and recycling bins; there’s also a toilet and shower block with separate men’s and ladies’ facilities. At the centre of the site is a screened barbecue/picnic area; a convenience store and coffee shop are 10 minutes’ walk away too.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Pitch was a decent size, well maintained.

Disliked Limited shower space, no where to put shower gel etc, very cold area, did not like the smell of the muck spreading as we drove back down the lane to the caravan after being out, and as we had left windows partly opened the caravan was full of the smell, even at night time the duvet stunk of it, was not to pleased.

Recommend to friends Visit again

The site is very pleasant, not large, so very quiet. Will revisit.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring caravan pitch

Liked The site was perfectly clean and well maintained. The pitches have a great block-paved hardstanding of adequate size for van and car.
Facilities for water and waste are good, and the toilet and showers are good and clean

Disliked Potentially in peak season, only one shower per sex maybe insufficient without causing people to wait unnecessarily.
No wifi available, and phone signal was very weak, so unable to even use data, but that's not always a bad thing!

Local attractions

Fancy a day at the beach? Blackpool (15 minutes’ drive) is a great place to start – as well as the fabulous sandy beach, you should make time to head to the top of the Blackpool Tower, try out some of the rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and ride one of the heritage trams along the prom. Blackpool’s a lively place, so for a more leisurely time head north to the Victorian town of Fleetwood (25 minutes), home to an excellent traditional indoor market, or south to Lytham St Annes (15 minutes), which has historic sights including a restored Victorian pier and Grade II listed windmill as well as a golf course, boating lake and lots of places to eat and shop. For other days out, step into the past at the Ribble Valley Steam Railway & Museum (15 minutes), take woodland walks in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (half an hour) or look out for birds at RSPB Hesketh Out Marsh (40 minutes).
