Liked: Nothing

Disliked: I am actually livid that we have paid to stay in this place I have photos to show just how absolutely horrific the pitch I paid £90 for was. I will defo be ringing and make a very strong worded complaint.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Friendly campsite, although busy everyone was really respectful and no late night noise. Relaxed atmosphere and close to Preston (£18 in a taxi or there was a bus down the round in town) We didn’t spend much time on site but no major issues. The toilets were clean but often ran out of toilet roll and soap! Showers clean and warm (but small cubicle) and we arrived late due to traffic, but all our details were behind the bar and was really easy to get set up (would benefit from having a site map to find where your pitch is …we had to drive about a bit!) The pitches were gravelled so no issues in big van getting on and off site (and it rained a lot while we were there!) Is convenient for town which is why we picked it, not sure what it’s like if you are holidaying on the site, but clean and quiet and friendly whilst we stayed.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: Very pleasant stay. Only used as a base as we were in Preston for the Radio 2’s Party in the Park. No noise after 11pm at all. We would definitely come back and use to explore the Ribble area

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: Lovely views from the main reception, great amenities available. Toilet block was always clean and staff were lovely. Great park area for the kids.

Disliked: Pitch was hard to manoeuvre into as down a narrow path, the pitch was hard standing but also uneven and was risky getting out due to large dips. Would have been ok for a campervan but really difficult for a caravan. We didn’t get an opportunity to use the swimming pool as they have strict timing slots of when you can go in and limited space. Felt it was over priced and would be better if it had a separate entertainment pricing as we used none of it.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: Not much!

Disliked: Pitches were awful. Too small to park side by side. Had to park nose to tail. Gravel pitches had weeds, not well looked after at all. No signage for water/waste etc. Toilets and showers not regularly cleaned. No shop onsite despite being advertised.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Lovley location. The shower block is in serious need of an overhaul cubicles very small floor very slippy when wet. We were there for a weekend at the end of August the toilets were not cleaned the whole weekend. No food available. No shop. The weekend we were there no draught available in the bar.

Disliked: The pitches are very small and not very well laid out, not very level either. We were allocated a pitch number on arrival but when we drove round to the pitch it was already taken we were told by the occupants of the pitch that you can just pick any pitch available we booked an extra large pitch but I have no idea if the pitch we chose was the one we paid for. I was also told on checking in that there was water available on the pitch but it was not there was a water point in the middle of the row, the rows are very narrow and some caravans only just fit on the pitch the a frame in some cases overhanging onto the road. Also for the money there was no WiFi.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
