General

  • Peaceful site for families and couples
  • On-site lakes for carp and coarse fishing
  • Clubhouse, playground, games room and shop

Woods, wildlife and the winsome River Wyre: this serene country setting is ideal for anyone with a horror of rowdy campsites (Wyreside Lakes Fishery welcomes families and responsible adult couples only).

After a spot of carp or coarse fishing at one of the onsite lakes, you can hang up your rod to compare tall tales in the Fisherman’s Rest over some home-cooked grub (weekends only outside of school hols). The clubhouse also welcomes children, provided they’re accompanied, and there’s evening entertainment at peak times.

Aside from the games room and outdoor playground, woodland adventures will be the main attraction for mini campers, although the unfettered access to the riverbank means close supervision is required. The essential amenities are good, with disabled provision and baby-change facilities, and there’s a shop for vittles, camping and fishing essentials, and a launderette.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Very muddy ground, but that was the fault of the weather and not the campsite.

Staff where more then helpful upon arrival, especially Sally who never seemed to stop working but she was friendly, warm and very efficient.
We got given a lake view pitch on the upper field which was absolutely beautiful.
Massive surroundings to walk around and enjoy.
Facilities where top notch, toilet block was cleaned regularly, shop was well stocked, lots of sinks to wash up in, kids play area, close to lovely day trips out, we went to 'Hobble hey farm'. Able to hire fishing gear which my husband did and enjoyed, was only £15 for the full day. Pub onsite was full of fun and served great food at good prices.
There where lots of rules in place but to be honest that didn't bother us one bit as it kept the overall atmosphere pleasant and relaxed.
All the others campers seemed to respect the site too whilst we was there which again created a relaxed place to be.
Having to leave a day early due to my health reasons the young guy at the desk even offered to see if he could speak to someone more senior to give us some money back, I rejected as I didn't expect anything back but the gesture and thoughtfulness and lovely.
We will most definitely return next year with this being one of the best campsites we have been to.

The site was friendly, clean, beautiful areas to walk and fish and had all the facilities needed to help with a camping weekend.

    Disliked:

On one night we had hoped to get a meal in the pub on site or pick up a few bits from the shop as we didn't have everything we needed to make our meal. On that night we arrived at 7:50 which I know is cutting it fine as they finish at 8 however we were told the chefs had already gone and on top of that the shop was also shut early. When one of the members of staff approached the guy working in the shop to say that his clock was fast he just shrugged and said yeah I know. Just a little disappointed with this as everything else was great.

Local attractions

The area caters to a diversity of sporting tastes, from golf to quad biking. There are swimming baths five minutes away in Garstang, or you could trot over to the Bay Horse School Of Equitation for some pony trekking, or pay a visit to the Salt Ayre Sports Centre, which has a large pool, gym and various indoor sports and exercise classes. Morecambe has a bowling alley and laser gaming, too.

With easy access to the M6 and A6, it’s a doddle to get to some of the north’s most popular places. Ten minutes away are the cobbled streets of the historic university city of Lancaster, with its castle prison and maritime museum, plus interesting shopping, watering holes and eateries, a cinema and more.

Follow in Eric’s footsteps in Morecambe Bay (there’s a statue of the comic on the seafront) - if he brings you sunshine, you can hit the beach; if not, check out the newly restored art deco splendour of the Midland Hotel.

Also within easy reach are the glorious landscapes of the Lake District, seaside frolics in Blackpool, walking and wildlife in the beautiful Forest of Bowland, and the picture perfect Wensleydale town of Hawes (say 'cheese'...)

Check out the on-site tourist information point for more info.
