Blossom Tree Camping: Sunset at Blossom Tree Camping

General

  • Family-run back to basics farm site in the Lancashire countryside
  • A 35-minute drive from the Lake District; 45 minutes from Blackpool
  • Picnic area on site; pubs, restaurants, and farm shop nearby

Looking to tuck into some time away in the gorgeous Lancashire countryside? Blossom Tree Camping has quite the spot for a rural stay, 35 minutes’ drive away from the Lake District and 45 minutes from Blackpool. This family-run farm is a quiet and spacious patch with some cows and many a place to kick back and relax.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome here too, but they must be tethered at all times because the cows aren’t big fans. There’s a picnic area on site when you feel like planting yourself down for some tasty eats. In terms of other facilities, there’s a toilet block with ladies and gents’ toilets and a separate shower block and dishwashing area.

Where to source the goods for your picnic, though? Well, no need to worry, as there are lots of food shops, including a farm shop, within five minutes’ drive of the site. Pubs are a common sight too – there are several within five minutes’ drive of the site and many more eateries (restaurants, bars and the like included) in Lancaster, 10 minutes’ drive away.

For anything else you may need and finding local attractions, there are friendly faces on site that will be happy to point you in the right direction, whether it’s scenic trails, beaches or crags.

Please note that electric cooking equipment and devices such as kettles, hairdryers and straighteners may not work at this site.

Please note

Please note that the shower facilities are unisex.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Returning campers! Love the vibe. Chilled peaceful site. Family who run it are so thoughtful and approachable. They had no diet coke in their little shop so went out and stocked up on it after I said I liked it. Will be returning again next Yr for a longer period.

Well-kept campsite with everything you could need - shop, play areas, pizza oven, lovely clean toilets and showers. All the pitches have an electricity supply. Beautiful views down the valley. Quiet and pleasant site. Owners were very welcoming. A Takeaway delivers to the campsite when you don't want to be cooking. Dogs are welcome.

Such a lovely atmosphere, We loved this camp site, we will definitely return here. It’s family friendly with plenty of toys and games for the children to enjoy, a little field our son played football in and even a swing. The staff where always friendly and helpful from the moment we got there and very welcoming. It has a very handy little shop on site and not to mention how much we loved the animals around us. Also fire pit hire and flat pitches 👍🏼

Just back from enjoying the bank holiday weekend at Blossom Tree and already planning a full week trip for next summer. There is so much to do in easy reach of the site and the views driving around are splendid. I recommend an afternoon at the Crook of Loon for lazy paddling and picnics which is just 10 mins in the car also locally is Williamson Park with the monument if you have kids where there is a good play area and a butterfly house/ mini zoo.

The site is small enough for you to not worry if your kids wander out of sight and very family friendly facilities. I travelled on my own with my little boy for the first 2 nights and was then joined by a friend and their child too. We all had a wonderful time. By some magic all was quiet and sleepy by 9:45 latest.

Showers and washing up area with hot running water are free and loo roll or soap never ran low despite being fully booked. The free electric on site worked fine for running the cool box and charging our phones.

Enjoyed the firepit hire and the facility to refreeze ice blocks.

    Disliked:

If you are at the top it is quite a walk up and down from the toilet, but I burnt all the calories off I consumed :-) No problem if you are fit though !

Local attractions

Once you’re all settled in, it’ll be time to plot out your plan of action. Those of you who have hiking at the top of your list will, of course, want to circle the Lake District National Park (35 minutes’ drive) on your map. The Trough of Bowland (25 minutes) has plenty more scenic walking and cycling routes – this time through a remote river valley. Underline Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (35 minutes) while you’re at it – the views are very worth the small trek.

Like a little of the city life too? Lancaster (10 minutes) is a good place to get in some sightseeing. The castle and the Ashton Memorial in Williamson’s Park might make it onto your tour, as should a stop in a delicious eatery (or two). Blackpool (45 minutes) is a smaller town, but there’s plenty of entertainment packed in, including a theme park, wake park, beaches and amusement piers.

While you’re on the topic of bays, the Morecambe Bay (25 minutes) estuary is a haven for all things outdoor sports: sailing, kitesurfing and even parachuting. If you like to scale cliffs, head to Thorn Crag (half an hour) too.

Must see

  • Lancaster Castle (2.7 miles)
  • Beacon Fell Country Park (10.6 miles)
  • Holker Hall and Gardens (14.7 miles)

National Trust

  • Cartmel Priory Gatehouse (14.7 miles)
  • Sizergh Castle and Garden (18.2 miles)
