What customers say
This site is praised for its spectacular views of Ullswater and its friendly, accommodating owner, Sophie. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches and the 'wild camping' feel. The location is ideal for exploring the area, with a pub a short walk away. Basic portable toilet facilities are provided. While some experienced issues with mud and noise, most found it to be a great value, back-to-basics camping experience.

Overall a really good site and would recommend.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Beautiful location. Stunning views and really handy for local amenities at Poole bridge.
Sophie who runs the place was really friendly and super nice to talk to.
Very good value.
Disliked There was a party there who decided to hold a party till 2am ish which was a bit much but don't know if the site specified anything about noise so don't hold this against them but would have been nice for fellow guests not to act like idiots (but at least they were breathalysing themselves on the morning to see who was least drunk to drive 🙄).

Excellent site, clean facilities, amazing views!
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The campsite was lovely and clean. Toilets from top to bottom of the site. But the best part of all, is the beautiful view you have of Ullswater and the mountains around the area! Only a 5 to 10 min drive from the lake too. Priority on fire pits too if you ring and enquire!

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Lovely campsite! Only amenities were toilets but the views were amazing! Nice to be out in the 'wild' and just very chill! Can hire campfires too! Pub just at the bottom of the hill too!
Disliked Could do with some running drinking water. But I know this would be difficult to source. Does say when booking that there's no drinking water.

The only good thing about this…
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The only good thing about this site is the view.
Disliked The only facility available was a toilet which I expected because it is clear on the website that there are no other facilities and no drinking water. However the toilet was not maintained and was therefore akin to what you'd find at the end of a night at a festival. Utterly disgusting and no toilet paper.
When that is the only facility you are providing then it should be serviceable.
Aside from that, the site was noisy with groups shouting and swearing all through the night, being aggressive and violent to each other. It was a horrendous experience.

Good site with amazing views shame about others ruining the experience
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Host was welcoming.
Amazing views.
Big site.
Disliked There was a fight throughout the whole two nights we stayed with drunk men trying to fight each other shouting swearing and threatening to stab each other. We had to run over in the night and spilt them up. The owner did come out to the site but the shouting and swearing continued throughout the evening into the early hour, I feel the police should have been called due to the threats being made and the males extremely aggressive behaviour. It got to a point where children were heard crying and getting upset.
DISCLAIMER- This is not of the fault of the owner/host but I feel more could have been done to deescalate the situation. This could have happened at any campsite but just letting other potential campers with children aware.
The toilet facilities could have been more maintained and cleaner.
